We recently had the privilege of helping a client regain her Swedish citizenship – more than 50 years after she was born abroad to Swedish parents.
Although she had technically lost her citizenship by not applying before turning 22, we were able to show her strong ties to Sweden. The Migration Agency agreed – and confirmed that she is Swedish.

It’s a wonderful outcome, but it also shows how long and uncertain these cases can be – sometimes nearly two years before a decision.

We are pleased to have helped our client win a case against the Swedish Migration Agency regarding a job-seeker residence permit. The application was initially denied on the grounds that the client had not demonstrated a sufficient intention to seek employment before the permit was granted– despite the fact that no such requirement exists in the legislation.

By appealing the decision and clarifying the legal framework, we convinced the Migration Court to overturn the rejection and refer the case back for reassessment. Following a new review, the permit was granted.

An important ruling that highlights the need to safeguard legal certainty and ensure correct application of the law! It is truly rewarding to work with migration law and make a real difference in people’s lives.
