The Migration Agency implements a new application routine for highly skilled labor on 29th of January 2024.
A work permit can be granted within 30 days if the application is complete and the occupation:
• is managerial or
• requires advanced higher education qualifications or
• requires higher education qualifications or equivalent
Highly skilled workers are defined as occupations with SSYK code 1, 2 or 3.
Exempt from the new routine is employment in industries with higher investigative requirements.
The Migration Agency applies an extended duty to investigate on the following industries and SNI codes:
• Cleaning (81290, 81210)
• Hotel and restaurants (55101, 56)
• Construction (41200, 421, 42990, 43)
• Trade (471–478)
• Agriculture and forestry (0113, 012, 02102)
• Automobile repair (452)
• Service (9602, 9604, 9609)
• Staffing (782)
• Personal Assistance (88101, 88102)
The sorting of applications into different categories will be done automatically based on the SSYK and SNI codes.
Already existing routines will be applied on all other applications according the Migration Agency's webinar on the 25th of January.
Conclusion
If you have been offered a job that requires a university or college degree or equivalent and your future employment isn’t in one of the exempt industries you should have access to the new “fast track” as long as your occupation has the SSYK code starting with 1, 2 or 3.
Please note that I will not be able to answer any general questions due to my work load.
