Today, November 1, 2023, new legislation came into force and the minimum wage level is raised from SEK 13,000 to SEK 27,360 (for 2023) for people with a work permit.

The salary level is calculated based on 80% of the median salary in Sweden, which means that it is adjusted every year. The salary level used in the decision is based on what the median salary is at the time of application.

In order to be granted a work permit, it has previously been required that the employee has a salary at union or market level. If you work part-time, it has been an absolute requirement that the salary be higher than SEK 13,000 per month.

For those who have an ongoing application for a work permit or extension of a work permit, and the salary is below SEK 27,360/month, it is important to review the salary and update the application with new salary information if there is room to raise the salary to at least this level.

For those who are in Sweden on a work permit, there are no major changes now. There is no need to increase your salary and/or seniority at the present time. On the other hand, you need to review salary and possibly seniority when it is time to extend your work permit.

Idag, den 1:a november 2023, trädde ny lagstiftning i kraft och den lägsta lönenivån höjs från 13 000 kr till 27 360 kr (för 2023) för personer med .

Lönenivån räknas ut baserat på 80% av medianlönen i Sverige, vilket innebär att den justeras varje år. Lönenivån som används vid beslut baseras på vad medianlönen är vid tidpunkten för ansökan.

För att beviljas så har det sedan tidigare krävts att den anställda har en lön på facklig eller marknadsmässig nivå. Arbetar man deltid så har det varit ett absolut krav att lönen är högre än 13 000 kr per månad.

För de som har en pågående ansökan om arbetstillstånd eller förlängning av arbetstillstånd, och lönen ligger under 27 360 kr/månaden så är det viktigt att se över lönen och uppdatera ansökan med nya löneuppgifter ifall det finns utrymme att höja lönen till minst denna nivå.

För de som befinner sig i Sverige på arbetstillstånd så är det inga större förändringar nu. Man behöver inte höja sin lön och/eller tjänstgöringsgrad i dagsläget. Däremot så behöver man se över lön och eventuellt tjänstgöringsgrad när det är dags att förlänga sitt arbetstillstånd.

Från och med den 1 november 2023 (tidigare sagt 1:a oktober) höjs lönegolvet för arbetstillstånd i Sverige från en bruttolön på 13 000 kr per månad till 80 % av medianlönen.

I rena siffror innebär det att från och med den 1 oktober 2023 krävs det att bruttolönen ligger på minst 27 360 kronor för personer som ansöker om eller redan har arbetstillstånd i Sverige. Lönenivån gäller oavsett yrke, bransch eller om personen arbetar heltid eller deltid.

As of November 1, 2023 (previously stated October 1st), the salary floor for work permits in Sweden will be raised from a gross salary of SEK 13,000 per month to 80% of the median salary.

"-The permit can be revoked if the terms of employment deteriorate.

-The application for extension can be rejected if the conditions are not met.

-When you apply for an extended work permit, you must be able to show that the conditions for the work permit have been met throughout the permit period. Therefore, save all salary specifications, employment certificates, certificates of possible absence and certificates that you have been covered by insurance during the entire permit period, as you may be asked to show these documents to the Swedish Migration Agency."
