Canada has introduced personalized processing-time estimates for eligible work permit extensions and PGWP applications submitted from inside Canada.

🔹 Applicants can now check:
✅ Estimated remaining processing time
✅ Number of applicants ahead
✅ Applications awaiting decisions
✅ Current processing time for new applications

👷 Applicable to:
• Work permit extensions
• Changes to work permit conditions
• First-time PGWP applications from eligible graduates

📌 Maintained Status: Those who apply to extend their work permit before expiry may continue working under the conditions of their existing permit while the application is processed, if eligible.

🇨🇦 PNP Update: Certain eligible base PNP applicants may also qualify for an earlier BOWP under a temporary measure in place until December 31, 2026.

🔹 Employers generally get 15 days to provide supporting documents
🔹 Applies to eligible employer-specific work permit applications under TFWP and IMP
🔹 Officers will continue to verify job offers and eligibility

🇨🇦 Canada Updates Global Talent Stream: Fewer Category A Referral Partners

Canada has updated the Global Talent Stream (GTS) under the TFWP, reducing designated referral partners for Category A from 58 to 41 effective September 15, 2026.

🔹 17 organizations removed from the list
🔹 Ontario saw the highest number of removals, with 8 organizations
🔹 Employers can approach another designated regional or Pan-Canadian partner
🔹 Category A still requires a designated partner referral

👨‍💻 Category A is for unique and specialized positions and generally requires advanced industry knowledge, specialized qualifications/experience, and a salary of at least $80,000 or the prevailing wage, whichever is higher.

⚡ Processing: ESDC aims to process eligible GTS LMIA applications within 10 business days in 80% of cases.

⚠️ Faster processing does not guarantee approval. All applicable requirements must still be met.
