I was truly honored to accept the invitation of the Camera de Comerț, Industrie și Agricultură Timiș to attend the conference “Reforming the Healthcare System in Favor of the Patient – The Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare.”
The event brought together decision-makers, medical professionals, and representatives of the patient community for a timely and necessary dialogue on the structural reform of Romania’s healthcare system and the transformative role of artificial intelligence.
It was a privilege to witness the engagement and openness of the Minister of Health, Alexandru Florin Rogobete, who addressed pressing challenges facing the healthcare sector and outlined concrete solutions aimed at increasing efficiency, transparency, and patient-centered care. His participation demonstrated institutional commitment to modernization and reform.
Equally impressive was the dedication of the distinguished medical professionals present, including representatives of the Spitalul Județean de Urgență „Pius Brînzeu”, whose ongoing efforts reflect a genuine determination to elevate the quality of healthcare services in Romania. Their professionalism, openness to innovation, and readiness to embrace technological advancement signal a promising direction for the system’s evolution.
A highlight of the conference — and a remarkable surprise — was the intervention of George T. Haber, who presented the implementation of an AI-based system within the County Emergency Hospital. His contribution demonstrated that artificial intelligence is no longer a theoretical concept, but a practical tool capable of enhancing diagnostic precision, operational efficiency, and decision-making processes within medical institutions.
The discussions underscored a critical reality: meaningful healthcare reform requires not only regulatory adjustments but also technological integration, interdisciplinary collaboration, and visionary leadership.
Events like this confirm that Romania stands at a pivotal moment — where innovation, public policy, and medical expertise can converge to build a healthcare system that truly serves the patient.
I extend my sincere appreciation to the organizers and all speakers for creating a space where strategic dialogue translates into actionable progress.
