Basic Legal Concepts

Crime (جرم) – غیر قانونی کام۔
Law (قانون) – حکومت کے بنائے ہوئے قواعد و ضوابط۔
Defendant (ملزم) – وہ شخص جس پر عدالت میں جرم کا الزام ہو۔
Prosecutor (استغاثہ کا وکیل / سرکاری وکیل) – وہ وکیل جو عدالت میں جرم ثابت کرنے کی کوشش کرتا ہے۔
Detective (تفتیشی افسر) – پولیس افسر جو سنگین جرائم کی تفتیش کرتا ہے۔
Trial (مقدمہ کی سماعت) – قانونی عمل جس میں فیصلہ کیا جاتا ہے کہ کوئی شخص مجرم ہے یا نہیں۔
Witness (گواہ) – وہ شخص جس نے واقعہ دیکھا ہو اور عدالت میں بیان دے۔
Judge (جج / منصف) – وہ شخص جو عدالت کی کارروائی چلاتا اور فیصلہ کرتا ہے۔
Evidence (ثبوت) – عدالت میں پیش کیا جانے والا ثبوت۔
Acquittal (بریت) – جب عدالت کسی شخص کو بے گناہ قرار دے۔
Testimony (بیانِ گواہی) – گواہ کا عدالت میں دیا گیا بیان۔
Suspect (مشتبہ شخص) – وہ شخص جس پر جرم میں ملوث ہونے کا شک ہو۔
Arrest (گرفتاری) – کسی شخص کو جرم کے الزام میں پولیس حراست میں لینا۔
Charge (الزام عائد کرنا) – کسی شخص پر سرکاری طور پر جرم لگانا۔
Sentence (سزا) – جرم ثابت ہونے کے بعد دی جانے والی سزا۔
Appeal (اپیل) – اعلیٰ عدالت سے فیصلے کو تبدیل کرنے کی درخواست۔
Bail (ضمانت) – مقدمہ کی سماعت سے پہلے رقم دے کر رہائی حاصل کرنا۔
Verdict (فیصلہ) – جج یا جیوری کا فیصلہ کہ ملزم مجرم ہے یا بے گناہ۔
Conviction (سزا یافتہ قرار دینا) – عدالت کا کسی شخص کو مجرم قرار دینا۔
Jail (جیل) – وہ جگہ جہاں مجرموں کو رکھا جاتا ہے۔
