In both our society and the teachings of many religions, there is a fundamental principle: support what is right and oppose what is wrong. This guiding belief directs us to stand with victims, not with harmers. To create a just and peaceful society, we must avoid double standards and listen to our conscience.Standing with victims means offering unwavering support to those who have suffered from injustice, violence, or abuse. It is our moral and ethical duty to ensure that victims are heard, validated, and protected. Our societal and religious values teach us to defend the vulnerable and hold wrongdoers accountable. This is not just about providing comfort but also about actively advocating for justice.Double standards undermine the very foundation of our values. When we excuse or minimize the actions of harmers while ignoring the plight of victims, we betray the principles of justice and compassion. Consistency is crucial. Our actions must align with our beliefs, ensuring that we always stand with victims and seek accountability for harmers.Peace in society can only be achieved when justice prevails. Supporting the right things over the wrong means rejecting behaviors and systems that enable harm and embracing those that promote healing and justice. It involves creating an environment where victims are heard, validated, and protected.Religious teachings across various faiths emphasize the importance of justice and compassion. Islam emphasizes justice (Adl) and the protection of the oppressed. Hinduism's Dharma promotes righteous living, including protecting the vulnerable. Buddhism teaches compassion and empathy, advocating for support for those suffering. While we must support victims, we must also recognize the need for rehabilitation and support for harmers. This does not mean excusing their actions but rather providing opportunities for them to change and make amends. Our conscience tells us that everyone is capable of growth and redemption. .By listening to our conscience, we ensure that our actions are guided by empathy, justice, and righteousness. Supporting victims and addressing the needs of harmers for rehabilitation can coexist, leading to a more compassionate and just society. Our society needs peace, and peace can only be achieved through consistent support for victims and a balanced approach to dealing with harmers. Let us commit to these principles in all aspects of our lives. Stand with victims, reject double standards, and listen to your conscience. In doing so, we honor our societal and religious values and contribute to a world where justice, peace, and compassion are the norms.
