We are excited to share that our Partner, Hassan Abdullah Niazi, has authored the exclusive Pakistan chapter for Lexology Panoramic on 'Competition in Digital Markets'!

This contribution highlights Pakistan's evolving competition law landscape, with a particular focus on digital markets and regulatory developments impacting international and local businesses.

At Common Law Chambers, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of advising clients on complex competition, regulatory, and technology-related disputes. Our work in this area draws on both international experience - provided by Mr. Niazi's time as Lead Counsel for Meta Platforms Inc - and a deep understanding of the domestic legal environment.

For domestic companies looking to expand, or international businesses exploring the Pakistan market, we are here to provide nuanced, practical, and strategic legal advice.

We are proud to share another significant win for one of our clients in a contentious intellectual property matter.

The CLC team successfully represented SAMSARA by Khadjia Batool before the Intellectual Property Tribunal, Lahore in a suit seeking a permanent injunction against Samsara Couture House for wrongful use of the SAMSARA trademark.

In a decisive judgment, the Tribunal ruled in our client’s favor, recognizing her as the creator and prior user of the SAMSARA mark and restraining the opposing party from using or infringing it in any form.

We are proud to have assisted our client in this matter, and especially thank the valuable contribution of Mr. Salman Ali Mohsin in this litigation.

If you believe your Intellectual Property rights are being violated, please do not hesitate to contact us for a consultation.

We are proud to share that our Partner, Wajahat Ali, successfully argued a highly contested criminal revision petition before the Additional Sessions Judge, Lahore.

The case revolved around the proper interpretation of Sections 201, 202, and 204 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which governs the filing and scrutiny of private complaints.

Wajahat argued extensively that these sections cannot be misused to initiate frivolous cases aimed at harassment; courts must exercise due diligence before passing any order.

The judgment underscores the necessity of judicial application of mind at the preliminary stage of a private complaint. It also examines the impact of significant delay in filing a complaint.

This ruling strengthens safeguards against the misuse of private complaints and sets an important precedent.
