Uploaded a Landmark Judgement of Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan dated 28-12-2021 (Approved for reporting), wherein the request for leave on the issue of Income Support levy Act, 2013 & its recovery requested by CIR, FBR, Karachi vs. 581 Respondents against the Judgement authored by the DB of High Court of Sindh at Karachi on 2-7-2020 & 21-12-2020 has been declined and consequently all said petitions have been dismissed. The issue involved in long litigation at different forums has been settled explicitly.

Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed has been appointed as new chairman of FBR.

Dr. Ashfaq is the sixth chairman of the revenue body during the current PTI Government. He is 31st chairman of the board.

He was working as Member Inland Revenue Operations. Dr. Ashfaq is replacing Mr. Asim Ahmad, who was appointed on 09.04.2021 as the chairman.

Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, Member Inland Revenue (Operations) recently included in a committee constituted by the United Nations on taxation matters.

In another major development, Waqar Masood, Special Advisor on Revenue to the Prime Minister, has also resigned.

The change in top brass was due to a conflict with the finance minister.
Meanwhile, other sources said that the these changes were expected because of the new fiscal year and huge targets assigned to the FBR.
