Immediate Action Points Following Mazur Appeal Judgment

The Court of Appeal (Sir Geoffrey Vos, Lady Justice Andrews and Lord Justice Colin Birss) has upheld the Mazur appeal, confirming that delegation of litigation tasks to non-authorised staff such as paralegals and trainees is lawful under the Legal Services Act 2007, provided the work is carried out on behalf of an authorised individual who retains full responsibility; however, this is strictly subject to proper direction, supervision and control, meaning firms may continue their existing working models but must ensure active, proportionate oversight is in place, as any unsupervised or independent conduct by non-authorised persons may still be unlawful.
