📌 Meeting Highlights – ILA Delegation at FBR LTO Lahore

An esteemed delegation of the International Lawyers Association (ILA) – Punjab Chapter led by President and General Secretary held a constructive meeting with Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar, Member (Operations – IR), FBR, at LTO Lahore and Mr. Sajjad Tasleem Azam, Chief Commissioner IR, LTO, Lahore. The meeting focused on key operational challenges faced by taxpayers and professionals.
📝 Key Points Discussed:
1️⃣ Password Change Policy:
ILA proposed to revise the 60-day password change policy on IRIS to an annual renewal cycle.
✅ The Hon'ble Member appreciated the recommendation and assured review for income tax users.
2️⃣ QR Code & Device Registration Issues:
ILA suggested eliminating QR code requirements at the draft preparation stage of Sales Tax Returns.
✅ The proposal was well-received, and steps were assured for practical relief.
3️⃣ OTP (One-Time Password) Delivery Concerns:
ILA recommended dual delivery of OTPs via both registered mobile number and email address.
✅ The Member welcomed this suggestion and promised technical evaluation.
4️⃣ Section 21(s) – Cash Limit Issue:
Concerns were raised over the Rs. 200,000 cash transaction cap for admissible business expenses.
🗣 ILA proposed enhancing the threshold to Rs. 500,000 to ease commercial operations.
✅ The Member acknowledged the impact and assured referral to the policy board.
🤝 The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continue dialogue and reform for taxpayer facilitation and policy improvement.
