Urgent Appeal to Members and Candidates of the Punjab Bar Council
We call upon all sitting Members of the Punjab Bar Council and contesting candidates for the upcoming elections to immediately respond to the alarming situation arising from the brutal and unlawful action of Punjab Police, Vehari, against peaceful lawyers at the Burewala Bar Association.
Our first and foremost demand is that the Punjab Bar Council immediately convene an emergency meeting to take official cognizance of the matter and formulate a strong institutional response.
Furthermore, we demand:
🔴 Immediate release of all arrested lawyers
🔴 Withdrawal of the fake and fabricated F.I.R. registered under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code
🔴 Public condemnation of this illegal and violent act by all relevant authorities
🔴 High-level inquiry into the conduct of the police officials involved
The Prosecutor General Punjab is also urged to take immediate notice and ensure an impartial investigation into this gross abuse of state authority.
This is a defining moment for the legal fraternity. The time to act is now.
