We are happy to share that in a writ petition filed by Abuzar Salman Niazi and Barrister Daraab Wali Furqan the LHC has struck down sedition law (s. 124-A of PPC) that criminalised criticism of federal, provincial governments. Among other Articles of the constitution of Pakistan, the struck down article qas especially in contravention of articles 5 (loyalty to the State) and 19 (right to freedom of expression). S. 124-A was a legacy of our colonial past used to quell even the slightest critique of the colonial government.

1207- Partners LLP has filed the writ petition Muhammad Awais Khan v Federation of Pakistan and Others. It is a public interest writ petition seeking regulation of Mental Health Practitioners (Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Counselors), Mental Health Services, and Mental Health Establishments. It is also prayed that the Federal and Provincial Governments take steps to recognise, and create policies for, a public Mental Health System.

The Federation, Province of Punjab, Mental Health Authority, and Punjab Healthcare Commission have been directed by the Honourble High Court to submit their comments on the writ petition.

The Hounourable High Court's attention is also drawn towards the role of the Mental Health Authority and Punjab Healthcare Commission. Even in the current framework, the law does cast upon these bodies a responsibility to regulate the Mental Health Services. However, it appears that these public bodies have not done an effective work in this regard.

GZAC is one of the China’s leading arbitration institutions that has pioneered online arbitration and also developed the world’s first recommended standard for online arbitration.
In addition to the officials of GZAC, MoU signing ceremony was attended by His Lordship Mr. Justice Jawad Hassan, Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi (Former Federal Law Minister) and Mr. Rana Sajjad Ahmad (President CIICA).

1207- Partners LLP is happy to announce that it will be partnering with the UNFPA Pakistan to provide technical legal consultation to the Kamyab Jawan Programme for the National Youth Council (NYC).
1207- Partners LLP will be assisting the NYC in drafting its first Constitution, as well as advising the office of Mr Usman Dar (Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs) in establishing the NYC as an independent entity.
The Kamyab Jawan Programme is one of the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s flagship projects aimed at youth empowerment and its inclusion. 1207- Partners LLP will be working with the School of Leadership Foundation, the UNFPA’s local partner.
