We are proud to share that our Legal Counsel, Ms. Amna Adnan Khawaja was recently invited to a consultative session hosted by HomeNet Pakistan, discussing the nuances of the 'Punjab Health Based Workers Act 2023'.

As a law firm, we have always been committed to understanding and addressing the complexities of legislation. In this instance, it was particularly enlightening to see our team contribute to such a necessary dialogue focused on improving the lives of home-based workers.

Key suggestions arising from the session included:

Establishing a fair minimum wage to reflect the value of the work done by home-based workers, translating the Act's contract into Urdu for enhanced comprehension, and developing targeted training sessions to empower these workers with the necessary knowledge and skills.

Additionally, the need for a more streamlined registration process and inclusive eligibility requirements was underscored, a change which would undoubtedly benefit the home-based workers significantly.

A standout idea was to set up a redressal committee that would act as a much-needed support system to promptly address grievances. This, coupled with facilitating better banking channels and improving financial literacy, presented a holistic approach to bettering the conditions for these workers.
