Today, the Sindh High Court bid farewell to one of its most competent and hardworking judges, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐫, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, on the occasion of his reference. During his tenure, he decided more than 27,000 cases—a testament to his extraordinary hard work, commitment and judicial discipline.

Though his time as Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court was brief, the impact he left on the institution and the bar will be lasting. His clarity of thought, efficiency in disposal, and unwavering dedication to justice have set high standards for the judiciary.

For us at JA Legal, the connection is deeply personal. The firm partners, upon returning from the UK, resumed their law practice in Karachi before Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar, then serving as a learned J1. Known as a tough but a fair judge, he trained countless young advocates through his judicial intervention- instilling in them the resilience to face adversity and the discipline to always be prepared. Many of us carry forward those lessons in our daily practice.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for his invaluable service to the bench and bar. His legacy of integrity, hard work, and mentorship will continue to guide the next generation of lawyers.

Every pillar whispers stories of landmark trials, every corridor echoes the voices of lawyers, judges, and citizens who’ve shaped the law of the land.

We are pleased to share that the Special Anti-Corruption Court at Karachi has acquitted for want of evidence accused persons in the Nasla Tower case, including our firm’s client i.e. former Sindh Building Control Authority DG Manzoor Qadir alias Kaka as well as officers of the SBCA, and office-bearers of the Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society (SMCHS).

Our firm through its Partner Barrister Iftikhar Ahmed Shah lead the defense and demonstrated that the land in question had been lawfully allotted and regularised decades earlier, and that no illegality could be attributed to the accused. It was further argued that the accused had no role in the allotment or regularisation process, nor in any alleged misuse of the land. The evidence and documents presented by the prosecution did not indicate any illegality on the part of the officials. The Court accepted this defense and found that the prosecution failed to establish its case.

This acquittal underscores our firm’s unwavering commitment to justice and to providing a robust defense to our clients in the most complex and high-profile matters.

The 15-storey building on Sharea Faisal was demolished on Supreme Court orders a couple of years ago.

JA Legal hosted a warm and memorable farewell dinner to bid goodbye to three valued members of our team — Barrister Agha Safiullah who will be joining another law firm to further explore and polish his legal skills; Yahya Mazhar, who is heading to the Bristol, United Kingdom to pursue his post graduate qualification/Bar-at-Law course; and Mr. Salman Khadim, a dedicated member of our paralegal staff, who is also moving on to the next chapter of his career.

The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt conversations, and fond memories, as all members of the firm came together to celebrate their contributions. Souvenirs were also presented to them by the partners of the firm as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication. It was truly a wonderful evening, marking both an ending and a new beginning for our colleagues, and we wish them the very best in their future journeys.
