If you’re a resident of Pakistan and have never been married, you will need to apply for an Unmarried Certificate before you can apply for a national identity card. To obtain an Unmarried Certificate, you will need to submit the following documents:
1. Application Form
2. A CNIC/NICOP copy
3. A Passport size photograph
4. Three witnesses who are Pakistani citizens and live in Pakistan
5. Proof of address
1. What is an Unmarried Certificate?
An Unmarried Certificate is a document that certifies that a person is not married. This is a necessary document for many purposes, including for: • Applying for a passport. • Applying for the operation of a business. • Applying to rent a property. • Applying for a phone line. • Applying for a bank account. Since this document is a requirement, it is highly recommended that you also obtain a Polygamous or Hindu Marriage (Marriage No 2) from a recognized authority before you apply for the Unmarried Certificate. If your closest relative does not have a valid Unmarried Certificate, you can also approach the nearest Law Enforcement Agencies to meet this documents.

As a result, citizens need extensive private information on them to get necessary documents or open bank accounts, or get medical care. Often, individuals who are perceived as LGBTQIA+ are verbally or physically harassed or interrogated while entering and leaving public places. They also face sleep-and-drive because of the fear that their behavior or conversation will be recorded or used against them. Add to that the hostile policies and practices of third-party collection systems like insidious anti-LGBTQ treatment, compulsory persona recognition, and shaming of LGBTQIA+ people, adoption and fostering practices, including public and private homes, discriminate against an overwhelming majority.

4. When you can and can't use your Unmarried Certificate
You can use your unmarried certificate as your proof of identity when you want to open a bank account, apply for a passport, apply for a driving license, and buy an insurance policy. You can also use it to prove your address when you want to apply for a letter from the municipality.
