|| Quota Policy Review Before the Federal Constitutional Court ||

Recently, Muhammad Ibrahim Khan , Managing partner of Lex Lata Consultants and Law Chambers , appeared before the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan as counsel for the petitioners in C.R.P. NO. 1295/2024 concerning Abdul Basit and others v. General Post Office, Islamabad and others.

The review addresses the Quota policy concerning legal heirs of diseased/Disabled civil servants, with significant implications for affected families and public -sector employment claims across Pakistan.

Another Successful Case for the Burmese Muslim (BM) Community.

Today, the Islamabad High Court, before the Honourable Mr. Justice Raja Amin Minhas, allowed the petition filed on behalf of Sami Jalal and Rami Jalal for issuance of their Pakistani machine-readable passports.

The petitioners had been referred from the Pakistani Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Pakistan for resolution of their passport matter. In January 2024, Sami and Rami, along with their two sisters, received passport tokens in Karachi. While their sisters were subsequently issued Pakistani machine-readable passports, Sami and Rami remained without passports throughout 2024 and 2025.

The matter was entrusted to Lex Lata Consultants & Law Chambers in May 2026. The petitioners’ Pakistani nationality was supported by their family’s documentary record, including their father’s valid Pakistani CNIC, Pakistani passport and Family Registration Certificate, and their grandfather’s Pakistani identity documents and passport dating back to 1975. A BM passport had also previously been issued to the family in 2008.

Today, the Islamabad High Court allowed the petitions, securing the petitioners’ entitlement to Pakistani machine-readable passports.

Another success for the Burmese Muslim (BM) community in resolving Pakistani passport and nationality-related grievances.
