The UAE is set to launch an AI-powered, fully electric smart inspection car that can detect visa and residency vio_lators in real time.

Developed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), the vehicle is equipped with six cameras providing 360-degree coverage and facial recognition within 10 metres. It integrates AI technology and a live dashboard to generate heat maps and for officers on patrol.

The smart inspection car will officially roll out in early 2026, starting in Dubai before expanding nationwide. The initiative is part of UAE’s digital transformation in inspection and immigration systems.

In a major step to enhance pilgrimage access, Saudi Arabia now allows both citizens and residents of GCC countries to perform Umrah anytime using various visa options.

Entry is permitted via land, air, and sea ports, with Umrah permits easily available through the Nusuk app.

Residents can apply through Umrah, transit, or tourist visas, broadening access beyond citizens alone.

This move aligns with the Kingdom's goal to streamline pilgrimage procedures and offer a more inclusive, efficient experience for all pilgrims.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday said that the passports of the Pakistanis, who were returning to the country after being deported, will be cancelled and also face the registration of an first information report (FIR) against them.

Saudi Arabia deported a total of 5,033 Pakistani beggars whereas another 369 individuals have been apprehended for begging in five other countries in the last 16 months.

Last month, the interior minister had said that the government would block the passports of Pakistanis deported, and tighten the process of issuing new travel documents. Around 106 Pakistanis were also deported from European countries arrived in Islamabad last month.

The government will block the passports of Pakistanis deported from other countries over criminal activities, and tighten the process of issuing new travel documents, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Thursday.

The move is aimed at deterring Pakistani nationals who travel abroad and commit illegal acts, such as begging.

In recent years, hundreds of Pakistanis have been deported, mostly from the Gulf countries, over beggary.

The minister directed the officials to complete all legal formalities regar­ding new requirements for obtaining passports.

The new requirements will help curb illegal im­­m­igration and screen those committing illegal acts.

The minister issued the directives during a meeting at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.
