⚔️ Historical Background
After the partition of British India in 1947, the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir faced a tragic and bloody episode.
When the people of the state demanded accession to Pakistan, the then ruler, Maharaja Hari Singh, with the help of extremist groups and Dogra forces, launched a brutal campaign against the Muslim population of Jammu region.
Between October and November 1947, hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Jammu were: Massacred, Displaced, or
Forced to migrate to Pakistan (particularly to Sialkot and Rawalpindi).
Estimates suggest that over 200,000 Muslims were killed in cold blood, and nearly 500,000 were forced to flee their homes.

🩸 Why It Is Called "Youm-e-Shuhada"
“Youm-e-Shuhada” means Day of Martyrs.
It honors the innocent Kashmiri Muslims who sacrificed their lives in November 1947 during the Jammu genocide.
They were martyred for their faith, identity, and their wish to join Pakistan.
