CHITRAL, July 28, 2011: Chief justice of Peshawar High Court justice Ejaz Afzal Khan has said that that National Judicial Policy has restored the confidence of people on the courts and to-day a litigant turns to the court with the hope of getting speedy justice and this is a big change which has been made possible by the lawyers community through their forceful movement for the independence of jud
iciary. Addressing a gathering of lawyers on the occasion of oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of district bar association here on Thursday, he said that the lawyers have created a history which is unparalleled and they achieved a success which freed the judiciary from all bondages. Khan the new judicial police put in place warrants that justice must be provided to the people at their doorstep and it is due to this reason that a circuit bench of Peshawar High Court will be established in Chitral by the end of September this year while branch registry of the court will start working from next month. He also announced to hold the camp courts of all the special courts and tribunals in Chitral to facilitate the people and to save them from travelling to Swat and Peshawar. The chief justice also announced to build the most wanted building of district judicial complex in Chitral but at the same he said that justice does flows from comfortable court rooms but sense of quality of justice is the rudimentary thing to be focused on. Regarding the closure of work on Lowari tunnel project, he said that although it is beyond his domain, but he will take up the matter in the relevant quarters so that work could be restarted on the project. earlier, he administered oath to the newly elected office-bearers of district bar association while he also inaugurated the two newly built court rooms on the premises of district court. On reaching the district court, he was given guard of honour by a contingent of Chitral police. He was accompanied by registrar of Peshawar High Court Syed Musaddiq Hussain Gilani and district and sessions judge Zafar Iqbal. Later on , the chief justice paid surprise visit to the district jail and ordered to release a number of prisoners undergoing imprisonment due to the crimes of petty nature. He took a strong notice of the provision of Indian drugs to the jail dispensary with fake labels and decided to take the matter on high level.
