Imagine if Mayor Vico Sotto had chosen silence. The trajectory of our nation’s political discourse would be markedly different. The turning point began when he publicly raised questions regarding the Discaya interviews.
Those interviews, featuring Sarah and Curlee Discaya with journalist Korina Sanchez, were flagged by Mayor Vico as potential paid placements allegedly linked to a family with flood-control contracts. His post, released just last month, reignited the national conversation on corruption and accountability.
He openly acknowledged the risks of challenging entrenched interests but chose, nonetheless, to speak out and identify wrongdoing. This act underscores a fundamental truth: sometimes, a single instance of courage is sufficient to catalyze systemic change.
In a country where corruption has become normalized, Mayor Vico stands as living proof that integrity in public office is still possible. His example is not only a challenge to the status quo but a call to reimagine what leadership can look like.
