💡 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗬 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥 (𝗕𝗣𝗢):
A legal order from your barangay that protects you from abuse or harassment. It keeps the abuser away from you until the court gives a longer protection.

𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣 𝗕𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦:
1. 𝙂𝙤 𝙩𝙤 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮
• The victim or a representative files a complaint at the Barangay hall where the abuser lives.
• This is usually the first step before going to court.

2. 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 / 𝘼𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚
• The Barangay Lupon ng Tagapamayapa (Peacekeeping Committee) will usually attempt mediation between the parties.
• If mediation fails or the case involves immediate danger, a BPO can be issued immediately.

3. 𝙄𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙋𝙊
• The Barangay Captain can issue a BPO to protect the victim.
• It typically lasts 15-30 days, depending on circumstances.
• The order prohibits the abuser from:
-Approaching the victim
-Harassing, threatening, or harming the victim
-Destroying property

4. 𝙇𝙖𝙬 𝙀𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩
• The BPO can be enforced by the police if the abuser violates it.
• Violations may lead to criminal charges.

5. 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙩 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣
• After getting a BPO, the victim can file a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) or
Permanent Protection Order (PPO) at the court.
• The court order provides longer-term protection, beyond the barangay-level BPO.

𝕂𝔼𝕐 ℕ𝕆𝕋𝔼𝕊
• Free of charge at the barangay.
• Can be obtained even if the victim and abuser live in the same household.
• Acts as an immediate shield while court proceedings take place.
