The Provincial Tourism Council (PTC), in its regular meeting on April 21, 2026, at PADMO, highlighted the upcoming arrival of Japanese tourists as a key outcome of the Provincial Government of Boholโs (PGBh) recent Japan mission.
Presided over by Co-chair Atty. Lucas Nunag, the meeting was attended by Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, Tourism Chief Joanne Pinat, BEDIPO Head Ma. Fe Dominise, BPEMO Head Jovencia Ganub, and other stakeholders.
The visit stems from Boholโs business-to-business engagements and tourism promotions in Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo during Tourism Expo Japan 2025, aimed at expanding the provinceโs reach in the Japanese market.
Tourism promotions and marketing updates were also presented, including the ongoing immersion of the Tourism Promotions Board in Bohol, showcasing community-based experiences such as asin tibuok, raffia weaving, chocolate-making, and Loboc river tourism.
Strengthened partnerships with key players such as Aboitiz InfraCapital, Trip.com, AirAsia, and Philippine Airlines are also expected to boost Boholโs visibility and connectivity.
The province is likewise preparing for major domestic tourism events, including PATA Davao, Sandugo Travel Expo, and World Expo Cebu.
During the meeting, stakeholders reported stable tourism pricing, continued environmental initiatives, and improvements in coordination and digitalization across sectors.
The council also reaffirmed its unified stance against casinos, in line with the provinceโs sustainable and community-centered tourism direction.
Overall, the discussions reflect Boholโs proactive efforts to expand international markets while preserving its cultural identity and environmental integrity as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
This initiative aligns with the Provincial Government of Boholโs Strategic Change Agenda, particularly on Sustainable Tourism, by strengthening global linkages and promoting inclusive, community-based tourism development.
