www.sorgexaminer.com Grandson and real heir of Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo surfaces Wednesday, 05 September 2012 05:22 Written by Publisher Darlan Palencia Barcelon www.sorgexaminer.com Quezon City, [08.18.12] – The long-lost grandson and real heir to the throne of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo has finally decided to go public and break his fifty-year silence to put an end to the h

istory of lies surrounding the tumultuous claims to the crown. Sultan Mohammad Ghamar Mamay Hasan Abdurajak together with his wife, Queen Maria Makiling Helen Fatima Nasaria Panolino Abdurajak came out in the open last July to expose the web of conspiracies between some politicians and false sultanate claimants. In an exclusive interview with Sultan Mohammad Ghamar Mamay Hasan Abdurajak by The Sorsogon Examiner, it was revealed that he is the grandson of Jamalul Alam known as Mohammad Hasan Pasang Al Haj or Sultan Jamalul Kiram & the direct nephew of Sultan Jamalul Kiram II known as Omar Ali Saifuddin II in Brunei. “I am determined to rewrite the history of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo, to the complete restoration of our Lost Kingdom of Lupah-Sug from the hands of fake tenants of the throne,” he said. “I am also willing to shed light to the tempestuous issues surrounding the conspiracies of the past and challenge them today that I am the legitimate heir of the sultanate crown. He made an assurance that he will also help amplify the truth relative to the pending claim of the Philippines to Sabah so that a lasting peace in Mindanao and North Borneo can be achieved. “As a legitimate heir, I am ready to assume my duties and responsibilities as Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo” he said. “The time has arrived to restore the sultanate, harness its natural resources and bring peace and economic development to the entire people of Mindanao and North Borneo. The restoration will bring back the stewardship of its rich natural resources into our hands so that the people of the entire sultanate will benefit from these patrimonies”, the Sultan assured this writer. With the documents entrusted to me by my late father, [Jamalul Kiram III] together with sworn statements by two living witnesses, I and I alone can prove to the whole world, that North Borneo belongs to us and is very much part of the Philippine territory, he asserted. In the same vein, a Clan Covenant initiated by and between the royalties and the true tribal leaders of Mindanao is already in place with the strong desire to support the couple, the Queen revealed. “A declaration by the MNLF from the provinces of Basilan and Sulu, an MNLF stronghold together with their 45 thousand Moro freedom fighters gives us hope in achieving the tactical position needed in seeking government recognition to formally assume our responsibilities,” she continued. Sabah is the former British North Borneo, an oil-rich territory which was annexed by Malaysia after gaining independence from British colonial rule in August 31, 1957. It has a population of 2.6 million and a land area of 73,610 square kilometers. Childhood Since childhood, his identity was kept secret for fear of his life. Under the guidance of Tunku Abdul Rahman, founder of MAPHILINDO and the former Prime Minister of Malaysia and his father, Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, they were instructed to wait for the proper time to reveal their identities. The reason was simple: so as not to put the entire family in danger. Their uncle - Sultan Jamalul Kiram II was murdered by poisoning in Kudat, Malaysia – the youngest crowned Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo by the age of 15. Sultan Mohammad Ghamar Mamay Hasan Abdurajak was born in Lungan Gitong,Parang, Sulu on June 14, 1962. His primary school [Grade 1 to Grade 3] was spent in Parang, Sulu before he transferred to South Ubian Elementary School in South Ubian, Tabawan, Tawi-Tawi where he finished elementary. His mother died when he was three. After his father remarried after 2 weeks that her mother was laid to rest, the family moved to Sitangkay, Tawi-Tawi. He finished high school at Mindanao State University in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. He earned a vocational course in FTI Zamboanga and graduated as a 3rd Class JRCTO [junior radio communication technician/operator]. He pursued his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education [BSEED] but he only reached second year; then he ventured into Sabah to work on June 16, 1981. Life in Malaysia He stayed in a fishing village of Sampona District in Sabah, Malaysia. He landed his first job in Jade Room Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant along Tawau District, Sabah where he worked for three years and transferred later to the Royal Hotel Tawau as a waiter for one year. The taste of a stable career came during his twelve years at the prestigious Shangrila Tanjung Resort in Kota Kinabalu. He started as a waiter and was promoted to Room Service Manager. The Queen “I was with the elders in my early years especially Ama Datu Ismael Ali who never divulged his identity until I met his grandson Raja Mamay several years back,” the Queen admitted. “He is the True Sultan of Sulu & North Borneo, as I can vouch that we need Sultan Mohammad Ghamar Mamay Hasan Abdurajak, the grandson as the only replacement of 16th Sultan Raja Husin Kamaluddin in accordance to the Succession Law, He was the last King of Southeast Asia and disappeared in Singapore in 1945,” Queen Helen added. “He was a king at the age of six but was fully instructed and guided to keep the secret sealed by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman and his father until the danger passed. I comforted him every time not to be hurt by the bad publicity by the group of Mohamad Fuad Kiram I that he is mentally deranged,” she averred. Government Recognition After the death of Sultan Mahakutta Kiram, the Philippine government failed to formally recognize a new Sultan. Mahakutta`s Crown Prince Muedzul Lail Kiram, the heir to the throne according to the line of succession as recognized by the Philippine government from 1915-1986, was 20 years old upon his father’s death. Because he was young and unsure, he failed to claim the throne in a time of political instability in the Philippines that led to the EDSA revolution and the removal of Marcos from power. The gap in the leadership was filled by pretenders of rival clans. Therefore, the Sultans who followed did not receive formal recognition like their predecessors, until 1986. However, the Philippine government decided to deal with one or more of these pretenders regarding issues concerning the Sultanate’s affairs. It appointed some of them into positions in government and granted therefore a de facto recognition to their reign. Under the present administration, Malacanang is divided on this issue. President Noynoy Aquino is endorsing Sultan Muhammad Fuad Abdulla Kiram I of the Royal Hashemite of Sulu from the Fuad clan, while Vice President Jejomar Binay is endorsing the Pulalon clan. The missing link is alive The living witness to the claim of the real heir to the throne of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo is Shariff Usman Datu Ismael Ali Sultan Toron Lawan Dumaga. He is now 109 years old. He is the uncle born in Kudat, Sabah Malaysia of Jamalul Kiram III and the grand father of Sultan Mohammad Ghamar Mamay Hasan Abdurajak. This witness is also the brother of Tunku Abdul Rahman, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia & Jamalul Alam Shariff Hasan Pasang. The Philippine’s claim to North Borneo The official claim took place on June 22, 1962 by Diosdado Macapagal, then Philippine president. The claims were of sovereignty, jurisdiction, and proprietary ownership of North Borneo. The Philippines, being successor-in-interest of the Sultan of Sulu derived its legal and historical rights to North Borneo. In the early part of the 1960’s it became imperative for the Philippines to make the claim because aside from the strong historical and legal rights, North Borneo is important to Philippine territory and vital to its security The British North Borneo Company based their rights from the grant signed in January, 1878. In it, the Sultan of Sulu granted certain concessions and privileges to Baron de Overbeck, an Austrian national who was at the time the Austrian Consul-General in Hongkong, and Alfred Dent, a British national, in consideration of an annual rent or tribute of 5,000 Malayan dollars. The Company was granted a Royal Charter on November 1, 1881. The Philippine government argues that Overbeck and Dent (the lessees) did not acquire sovereignty or dominion over North Borneo. This is because, according to international law, sovereignty can be ceded only to sovereign entities (e.g. government to government agreement) or to individuals acting for sovereign entities (agreement between leaders of nations). Overbeck and Dent were private citizens of their respective countries who did not represent any sovereign entity, but instead acted as mere businessmen who only acquired the grant of a lease from the Sultan of Sulu. Web of Conspiracy The conspiracy started after the death of Jamalul Kiram II in 1936. On 16 August 1937, Sessions Court of North Borneo granted Dayang Dayang Piandao administration rights over the properties of the Sultan but with credits to Sultan Jamalul Kiram II, Dayang Dayang Piandao was the daughter of Sultan Badarud-Din II. After the death of her father, she was adopted by Sultan Jamalul Kiram II. At this stage, the real heirs to the crown were never recognized and the successors came from the lineage of Dayang Dayang Piandao who later got married. The heirs of Jamalul Kiram II went into hiding by assuming different names or identities. At this point in time, the leadership of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra al-Haj was also being influenced by Sukarno of Indonesia to oppose the establishment of a Federal State of Malaya after gaining independence from the United Kingdom. During the term of President Macapagal, the Philippines started negotiating with the reigning sultans. Macapagal’s loss to Ferdinand Marcos in the elections marked another episode in the continuing conspiracy among poseur claimants to the throne. Marcos, using his influence and power, allegedly conspired with other pretenders which led to the multiple “dummy claimants” to the crown of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo. Sultan Pondiongan of Sulu and Marcos decided to partner. Marcos played the game so well that he even assumed an Islamic name [Julaspi Kiram]. “Pondiongan was instrumental in erasing the names and identities of the sons and daughters of our father [Jamalul Kiram III] to the point that they had to declare me dead twice,” Sultan Mamay lamented. Ismael Kiram came from the lineage of Pondiongan Kiram, the cousin of Jamalul Kiram II, and alleged suspect in his poisoning. A document obtained by The Sorsogon Examiner shows how Marcos purportedly amassed enormous wealth from the assets of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo during his reign. This wealth [bank notes, cash and gold bars] are currently in active accounts that are deposited under different names all over the world. His bothered conscience had forced Marcos to write a written apology asking for forgiveness to the heirs of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo before he died in exile in Hawaii in 1989. Marcos admitted in the same letter, that he took the name Julaspi Kiram. The former dictator also allegedly traces his roots to the lineage from Pondiongan Kiram. The Jabidah massacre served as the powder keg that lifted the lid off the covert training of Muslim soldiers who were intended to form part of the paramilitary force that was to reclaim Sabah. The media exposed it to the public after the lone survivor of the massacre - Jibin Arula narrated the harrowing details of the massacre. A full blown Muslim insurgency in southern Phiilippines followed suit. But that is another story. The personalities mentioned in this story can not be reached for comments as of posting time.
