The Department are generally fairly generous with grants of multiple entry to those visa applicants they consider “genuine”. That means they believe you will visit to visit friends or family or for ordinary tourism purposes, and not try to overstay or to break any rules like trying to work.

Can you spend a year in Australia with some speedy return trips to Manila then straight back again? No, because they will believe you are using the visa to live in a de facto relationship which means you are not genuine at all. Partner visas are for living together. Tourist visas are for visiting.

So you can visit for up to three months, and them return. After a suitable time, you may return again for another visit. And you can do this normally over a year. Not a bad deal at all.
