Expanding Homeownership for More Filipino Families

In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to expand access to homeownership, and under the leadership of Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling, Pag-IBIG Fund released โ‚ฑ32.92 billion in home loans in Q1 2026, up 9% from last year, helping 20,926 families secure homes of their own.

Growth was also driven by socialized housing, which reached โ‚ฑ2.95 billion and financed 3,439 homes, up 68% in amount and 92% in number of units. This reflects the Fundโ€™s continued focus on serving members from lower-income sectors.

Through the Pag-IBIG Housing Loan, members can achieve homeownership through affordable monthly payments that are often lower than rent. This allows them to gain a home they can truly call their own, while still having more room in their budget for their familyโ€™s daily needs.

To sustain this momentum, Pag-IBIG Fund rolled out regional Housing Fairs in Central Luzon, South Luzon, and the Visayas, and soon in Mindanao and the National Capital Region (NCR), making it easier for members to access housing options and connect directly with developers and services.

As part of the national governmentโ€™s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program, Pag-IBIG Fund continues to expand access to decent and affordable housing, while stimulating the housing sector, creating jobs, strengthening construction and allied industries, and thereby contributing to the national economy.

Pag-IBIG Fund to maintain 3% socialized housing rate under Expanded 4PH amid Middle East conflict

Pag-IBIG Fund will maintain its 3% annual interest rate for qualified socialized housing loans under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, helping keep homeownership affordable amid the ongoing Middle East conflict and global oil price volatility.

With monthly amortizations as low as โ‚ฑ4,005 for house-and-lot units worth up to โ‚ฑ950,000, and โ‚ฑ7,589 for condominium units worth up to โ‚ฑ1.8 million, more Filipino workers, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), can achieve their dream of owning a home.

The initiative supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to make decent and affordable housing more accessible, especially for low- and moderate-income earners.

LOOK: MRT-7 TO CUT QCโ€“BULACAN TRAVEL TO 34 MINUTES BY 2026

The long-awaited 22-kilometer MRT-7 is finally moving toward completion, turning what used to be hours of travel from North Avenue, Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan into just 34 minutes.

Powered by San Miguel Corporation and Korea Railroad Corporation, the line will include 14 stations connecting key malls, schools, hospitals, and government centers across Metro Manila and Bulacan.

Test runs are planned for late 2025, with full operations eyed for 2026. Once fully operational, MRT-7 is expected to reduce congestion, ease daily commutes, and strengthen the link between Bulacan and the metro.

LOOK: NEW MANILA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT GROUNDBREAKING SET FOR JANUARY 2026!

The New Manila International Airport (NMIA) in Bulakan, Bulacan will officially break ground in January 2026, marking a major milestone in efforts to decongest NAIA and expand the countryโ€™s aviation capacity.

Developed by San Miguel Aerocity Inc. (SMAI) under a โ‚ฑ735-billion, 50-year Build-Operate-Transfer deal, the massive 2,500-hectare projectโ€”located about 35 kilometers north of Metro Manilaโ€”will feature a 350,000-sqm terminal with five wings and 240 boarding gates, plus four parallel runways.

Phase 1 is set for completion by November 2028, accommodating up to 35 million passengers annually, with plans to expand capacity to 100 million. The airport will also have direct access to NLEX, MRT-7, and NALEX to Skyway Stage 3 for improved connectivity.

Originally targeted for 2027, the project faced delays due to reclamation suspensions and supply shortages, which pushed costs higher. Once completed, NMIA will become the largest and most advanced airport in the Philippines, serving as a long-term solution to NAIAโ€™s overcapacity.
