*STATEMENT OF THE LAWYERS BEYOND BORDERS ON INTERNATIONAL MIGRANTS DAY 2025*

On the occasion of International Migrants Day, Lawyers Beyond Borders (LBB), under the Migrants Forum in Asia, expresses its solidarity with all migrants and members of their families and reaffirms its commitment to advancing their rights and welfare. The network remains determined to continue its work independently and in collaboration with the United Nations, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), while constructively engaging with authorities in various countries.

We advocate for the effective implementation of ILO resolutions and the principles of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, including:
• Providing a coherent global framework for managing migration
• Advancing evidence based, humane, and sustainable migration governance
• Reducing the risks and harms associated with irregular migration
• Promoting policies that uphold migrants’ rights and dignity
• Ensuring social protection for migrant workers and their family members
• Strengthening international cooperation to address migration challenges collectively
• Working directly with migrants and engaging in law and policy discourse that improves their lives and conditions.
