Gorriceta Africa Cauton & Saavedra held another session of Gorriceta Academy for its lawyers, focusing on the Firm’s Energy Practice.

The session featured Atty. Janina “Ina” C. Arriola, Chief Sustainability Officer, General Counsel and Vice President of Alternergy Holdings Corporation, who shared her experience and insights on Legal and Sustainability Considerations in Renewable Energy Project Development.

Atty. Kiril Caral, Senior Counsel and Head of Gorriceta’s Energy Practice Group, opened the session with an overview of the practice and the legal and commercial issues shaping energy projects in the Philippines.

Atty. Mark S. Gorriceta joined regulators, financial institutions, technology companies, and fintech leaders at GFTN Select Philippines 2026 for two days of discussions on AI, payments, open finance, and regulation.

Day 1, co-hosted by Fintech Alliance PH, explored agentic commerce and the legal questions arising as AI agents take a greater role in commercial transactions, particularly around consent, accountability, authentication, and liability.

Day 2, co-hosted by the Fintech Philippines Association, focused on advancing open finance in the Philippines through stronger data-sharing frameworks, digital infrastructure, governance, and public-private collaboration.

The discussions provided valuable perspectives on how regulation can keep pace with new technologies while maintaining trust, security, and consumer protection.
