The first Wednesday of November is International Stress Awareness Day!

Stress affects us all as it is a natural response to the changes that we experience, ranging from daily routine changes to major life events. This includes both welcome changes (e.g., happy events like entering college or having a new partner) and disconcerting events in our lives. While it is inevitable, acknowledging what your stressors are is the first step towards effective stress management. Minimizing the effects of stress is the goal, as it has an impact on our health regardless if stressors are positive or negative. Stress management can range from quick breathing techniques that can immediately calm us down to self-care habits such as exercise and meditation to build resilience over time.
