CONDEMNATION OF THE ATTACK ON LAWYERS IN TENORIO, DATU ODIN SINSUAT, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE

As an officer of the Court and as a brother in the legal profession, I express my profound outrage and condemnation regarding the recent attack on lawyers in broad daylight in Tenorio, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte this 17th day March 2025. This heinous act not only threatens the safety of legal practitioners but also constitutes a direct affront to the rule of law, undermining the very justice system that these individuals are sworn to uphold.

Lawyers play a crucial role in our society as guardians of justice, advocates for the oppressed, and defenders of the rule of law. Their safety is paramount to ensuring that justice prevails and that the rights of all individuals are protected. An attack on lawyers is an attack on the justice system itself, and it sends a chilling message to those who seek to uphold the law.

I call upon the authorities to take immediate and decisive action to investigate this incident thoroughly and to bring the perpetrators to justice. It is imperative that we demonstrate our collective commitment to safeguarding the rule of law and ensuring that such acts of violence are not tolerated.

In the spirit of swift attainment of justice, we urge the public to stand in solidarity with the legal profession and to advocate for a safe environment where lawyers can perform their duties without fear of violence or intimidation. Together, let us reaffirm our commitment to the rule of law and the principles of justice that bind our society.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims and their families and pledge our support in the pursuit of justice.

📣 Binatikos ng ilang netizens ang pag-atake sa aktres na si kasunod ng mga kumalat na usapan nila ng aktor na si dahil slut-shaming na raw ito.

Ang slut-shaming ay ang paghusga, paghamak, o pag-aalipusta sa isang tao dahil sa kanyang pananamit, kilos, o sexual na aktibidad. Mga babae ang karaniwang nabibiktima nito dahil inaasahan na susunod pa rin sila sa mga tradisyonal na pananaw ukol sa moralidad o kaugalian. Hanggang ngayon ay taboo o hindi pa rin karaniwan na paksa ang sexuality sa Pilipinas kahit normal lang ito.

May mga negatibong epekto ang slut-shaming, kabilang ang gender discrimination, pang-aapi sa mental health, kawalan ng kalayaan sa sarili, at paglaganap ng victim-blaming.
