Advent is a season for us to reflect about ourselves in relation to our past and our future.

More importantly it is a task to reflect on our present as to whether we deserve the graciousness, compassion, and the providence which God has given us by giving His Son to the world in order, ultimately, to pay for our infirmities, irreverence, ungratefulness and our sins.

This is an occasion for us to THINK of our future life beyond our earthly being. This is an occasion for us to ask ourselves whether we have the Faith, Courage, Hope and Confidence to face the world that has yet to come.

This is an occasion for us to reflect on how we could make ourselves better in the eyes of our Creator, to be worthy of His mercy.

I now then challenge you to reflect on these things in the hope that we can bring about reconciliation with ourselves, our neighbors and God.

One thing which we should not forget is that we cannot purchase a ticket to Heaven after this life, rather we should trust that no man is worthy of the promised blessing and peace of eternal life but only and only through the mercy of God as shown in the sacrifice of His Son.

Happy Independence Day Philippines!

What does it mean for you?

For me it means an anniversary of the political and personal freedom that we enjoy in a country that allows its people to be critical of the government, its officials, and events that have social, familial and personal impact with the end in view of bringing about general welfare.

The Philippines is a haven of tolerant, peace-loving, welcoming and nurturing people and in the course of the manifestations of such qualities and uniqueness we realize that there is no other country in the world so adopting as the Philippines.

Indeed this country is a paradise which many Filipinos fail to appreciate. In the Philippines existential freedom abounds.

This is what we celebrate today…our FREEDOM.

The Philippine Government is not only patriarchal but most influentially matriarchal.

Realizing the most significant roles of mothers who are usually females, the law treats them with extra care this is why the Magna Carta for Women was legislated, and the VAWC Law enacted pursuant to the 1987 Constitutional mandate…

All to protect and enhance women’s rights as well as those of the mothers for and in recognition of their great importance in society.

In the micro level my wife who is a mother of six, embodies the virtues, the determination, the influence of the best mother that one has to be and appreciate in the eyes of our children. I do hope and pray that my daughters and daughter in law embody the nurturing, caring, understanding, patient and loving character of their mothers especially this challenging “modern and secular times”. I too had a wonderful, dependable, resourceful, and loving mother and until now though she is in heaven I could still feel and sense her assisting and loving presence in my life especially during times of difficulty as if whispering to me in solitude the words “don’t you worry and afraid I am here”…for all that have been said as well as those not spoken..:it is of great significance to celebrate this special day….

Our associates with Atty. Jalgalado, attended Lecture Series 69 for their Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) compliance last February 29, March 1, 7, and 8, 2024 at Aruga by Rockwell, Makati City.

This was the first face-to-face MCLE lectures conducted after the pandemic which was organized by the Asian Center for Legal Excellence (ACLEx).
