The Integrated Shari'ah Bar of the Philippines (ISBP) participated in the two-day Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Development of the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility for Shari'ah Counselors and the Proposed Ta'zir Code, held on August 6–7, 2026, at Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. The activity was initiated by the Bangsamoro Attorney General's Office (BAGO) and attended by representatives from various government agencies, legal practitioners, Shari'ah professionals, and other stakeholders.

The FGD served as a meaningful platform for consultation and exchange of views on the continuing development of Shari'ah law and its professional practice in the Philippines. Participants were given the opportunity to provide comments, proposed amendments, recommendations, and other inputs toward the formulation of appropriate and responsive legal and professional frameworks.

The first day focused on the proposed Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility for Shari'ah Counselors, emphasizing the need for clear ethical standards that promote integrity, competence, accountability, fairness, and professionalism in the practice of Shari'ah law. The proposed Code is likewise intended to guide Shari'ah Counselors in the proper discharge of their professional responsibilities and strengthen public confidence in the Shari'ah justice system.

The second day focused on the proposed Ta'zir Code, with discussions addressing its legal, religious, cultural, and practical considerations within the Philippine context. The participants emphasized the importance of continued consultation among Shari'ah professionals, legal practitioners, government institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure that the proposed framework is clear, practicable, and consistent with the existing legal and institutional framework.

The ISBP remains committed to contributing to the continuing development and professionalization of Shari'ah legal practice and the strengthening of the Shari'ah justice system in the Philippines.

The Integrated Shari'ah Bar of the Philippines, Inc. mourns the passing of former Department of the Interior and Local Government - Lanao del Sur Provincial Director Paisal C. Sani, SCL.

Dir. Sani was a member of the Philippine Shari'ah Bar having passed the Shari'ah Special Bar Exams in 1995, admitted and entered into the list of Shari'ah Counselors-at-Law in 1996.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE MASS INDUCTION CEREMONY

The Integrated Shari'ah Bar of the Philippines (ISBP) is pleased to announce the forthcoming Mass Induction Ceremony for successful passers of the Shari'ah Bar Examinations.

In aid of the necessary administrative and logistical preparations, all prospective inductees are respectfully requested to kindly fill out the Google Form provided. The information gathered shall serve as the basis for determining the final venue, attendance, and other arrangements essential to the orderly conduct of the induction ceremony.

All concerned are encouraged to submit their responses within one (1) week from the date of publication. The survey shall automatically close upon the expiration of the prescribed period, and responses received thereafter may no longer be accommodated.

Your prompt compliance is earnestly requested and will be greatly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you to this significant occasion marking your formal induction into the Integrated Shari'ah Bar of the Philippines.

Assalamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh!

The Integrated Shari’ah Bar of the Philippines, Inc. condemns the anonymous Facebook post circulating on social media that aims to destroy the reputation of Prof. Abdulcader M. Ayo (Dodong Maturan), a respected member of the Board of Directors of this Organization.

While this Organization recognizes every Filipino’s right to express grievances against a public official, as enshrined in the constitutional provision on freedom of expression, this highly irresponsible and malicious social media post — which levels allegations against Prof. Abdulcader M. Ayo — is unprofessional conduct intended to ridicule Prof. Ayo in public.

It is also enshrined in the Constitution’s Due Process Clause that any accusation against a public official — if supported by competent and credible evidence — must be brought before the proper legal forum, so that the official is given the opportunity to be heard and present his side.

This Organization has personally witnessed Prof. Ayo’s efforts to foster closer ties between academic institutions and our organization, to support aspiring Shari’ah Counselors, and to uphold the dignity and proper practice of our profession. His contributions to strengthening Islamic education and advancing Shari’ah in the Philippine legal system are well‑documented and widely recognized — and these speak far louder than empty claims intended to tarnish his name.

The ISBP, Inc. stands united with its Board Member, Prof. Abdulcader M. Ayo, against these malicious accusations. We trust his character, respect his record of service, and therefore condemn these unfair attacks in the strongest possible terms. We pray that Allah (S.W.T.) protects him, grants him patience and strength, clears his name, and upholds the truth above all falsehood.

The Integrated Shari'ah Bar of the Philippines, Inc. mourns the passing of our colleague, Sir Swaib Arindig Guindolongan Mohammad, SCL yesterday, 21 May 2026.

He was a former Marawi City Assessor, former Marawi City Treasurer, former Lanao del Sur Provincial Treasurer, and Chairman of the Board of Lanao Central Paramedical College Foundation Inc.

Sir Swaib was a member of the Philippine Shari'ah Bar having admitted to the profession in 2002.

We ask ALLAH to forgive him, have mercy upon him, grant him peace and pardon him. Make his resting place a place of light, expand his grave, and make it a garden from the gardens of Paradise. May He grant his family beautiful patience, immense strength, and abundant comfort. Do not let their hearts waver, and fill them with hope and faith. Allahumma Aameen! 🤲
