Dean Gemy Lito L. Festin, LL.M., as the head of the Clinical Legal Education Program of PUP Law, and Atty. Rex Norman E. Briones, LL.M., as the Chief of Legal Aid Clinic of PUP Law, proudly participated in the 2nd Philippine Clinical Legal Education Program Summit: Access to Justice Summit.

Spearheaded by the Supreme Court and the Legal Education Board, the summit convened from October 6 to 8, 2026, at the Baguio Country Club in Baguio City. The assembly centered on the theme, 'Bridging Theory and Practice: CLEP Andragogy, Judicial Engagement, and Transformative Lawyering in Advancing Access to Justice.'

This institutional gathering united regulatory bodies, members of the judiciary, law deans, law clinic directors, supervising lawyers, externship partner institutions, legal educators, and vital stakeholders to reinforce clinical legal education. The primary objective was to cultivate meaningful collaboration to expand access to justice through the Clinical Legal Education Program and the Unified Legal Aid Service.

Among the participants are part-time faculty members of PUP Law, RTC Manila VIce-Executive Judge Hon. Anne Perpetual S. Rivera-Sia, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA College of Law's Dean Myra Angeli Gallardo-Batungbakal, New Era College of Law's Dean Wilson A. Legaspi, DCL, Philippine Law School's Associate Dean Ariel C. Galamgam, Cainta Catholic Law School's CLEP Director Atty. Joseph Lemuel Baquiran, and Supreme Court's Court Attorney Atty. Virgil Maverick B. Lastimoza.

Through this active engagement, the PUP College of Law reaffirms its resolute commitment to elevating clinical training, fortifying legal aid initiatives, and ensuring access to justice for underserved and marginalized communities.

Our Law Student Practitioners under the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) from the PUP College of Law visited the Supreme Court of the Philippines on September 28, 2026.

The educational visit was facilitated by Mr. EJ Zamora Mijares of the SC Office of the Spokesperson, whose presentations, historical discussions, and interactive learning activities enriched our understanding of the Philippine judiciary. Learning about the history of the Court and walking through the Portrait Gallery of Chief Justices gave our students a deeper appreciation of the Court's function and of the leaders who have served it.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Supreme Court of the Philippines for opening its doors to our students.

In celebration of Women’s Month, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, in partnership with PUP College of Law, Ina ng Bayan sa Sais, Tara Kabataan, Akbayan Youth and The Sanctuary Network gathered with lawmakers, advocates, and students for “Mga Batas para sa Kababaihan: Tagumpay, Hamon, at Susunod na Laban.”

We are proud to share that our Legal Aid Clinic actively participated in the event by offering free legal services and consultations to members of the community, bringing the law closer to the people and reinforcing our commitment to access to justice for women.
