Pangunahing taga pagsalita si Cong Mong Palatino, NBN ZTE Whistle Blower Jun Lozada, Dr. Carol Araullo ng BAYAN at si Michael Esposo ang PNU Student Regent. Why rally on September 21?
1. Because the prosecution of those involved in the pork barrel scam is still not complete and can be undermined any time by Aquino himself.
2. Because the Napoles NGO's comprise only 8 out of the 82 NGO's COA reported to have questionable transactions involving PDAF.
3. Because Congress plans to retain pork under a new system; that even if there is no longer a lump-sum PDAF, lawmakers will still get to identify and recommend projects to the different implementing agencies (itemized pork). Next week, Congress is expected to pass on second reading the proposed budget, along with the new pork system.
4. Because he who has the biggest pork of all refuses to give it up, while preserving the system of patronage politics in Congress.
5. Because 41 years after Martial Law, bureaucrat capitalism has become even more rapacious under the so-called tuwid na daan.

TEACH AGAINST PORK and CORRUPTION to fellow Filipinos: STAND UP and be COUNTED!!

Today, September 10, 2013, a new network of anti-pork and corruption advocates have bonded together to join the swelling mass of Filipinos who want to abolish the pork barrel system.

The network is called TEACH AGAINST PORK and CORRUPTION. It is a broad network among Teachers, Educators, Administrators and Communities who are for the Abolition of Pork and Re-channelling of Pork to education and other social services.

We believe that as part of the education sector, our collective voice must be heard too. With an Education Secretary who has pronounced that he fully supports the President’s stand, a counter position why Pork Barrel must abolished should be propagated within and without our classrooms.

We should remember that Pnoy’s stand “it’s time to abolish the PDAF” is a lame and sugar-coated pronouncement on the flawed pork barrel system. The stench of the misuse of public funds is overflowing but then the President cannot make a genuine stand for the abolition of pork.

“We, teachers, educators, administrators and communities under TEACH AGAINST PORK and CORRUPTION will be as vigilant as the rest of the Filipino people to expose the truth and to punish the culprits on the misuse of pork barrel funds,” Prof. Bienvenido Lumbera, Convenor of TEACH said.

So much money has been plundered by our government officials as shown in the recent case of the pork barrel scam. These funds should have been properly channelled to education and other social services for the benefit of our countrymen.

We are now challenged to be vigilant. This has pushed us in the education sector to come together and form an alliance, TEACH against Pork. Teachers, non-teaching personnel or employees, administrators, members of the academe, parents and students are welcome to join in this group.
