De Guzman San Diego Mejia & Hernandez Law Offices (GSMH Law) participated in the Special Forum on Navigating the Latest Minimum Wage Increase, organized by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), on July 14, 2026, at the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center in Makati City.
The forum aimed to help employers, business leaders, human resources (HR) practitioners, and legal teams better understand the legalities, compliance requirements, and implementation of the latest wage rules under Wage Order No. NCR–27.
The distinguished lineup of invited resource speakers at the forum included GSMH Law Managing Partner Atty. Michael Mejia, Board Chairperson and Department of Labor and Employment National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) Regional Director Atty. Sarah Buena Mirasol, OIC Board Secretary VI Ms. Jackilyn Borja, and Employees' Compensation Commission (ECC) Commissioner Hon. Federico Marquez, Jr.
Joining Atty. Mejia at the event were members of the firm, including associate lawyers and legal interns.
During his presentation, Atty. Mejia provided a comprehensive general overview of the critical labor and legal considerations facing organizations today. He addressed the immediate implications of the Wage Order No. NCR–27 on business operations, labor costs, and workforce management, alongside key principles for understanding, preventing, and managing wage distortion in both unionized and non-unionized workplaces.
Furthermore, Atty. Mejia discussed the policy and legal implications of legislated wage-increase proposals, the ripple effects on wage-setting discussions and upcoming wage orders in other regions, and actionable strategies for employers to balance statutory compliance, employee welfare, productivity, competitiveness, and business sustainability.
