The amount of clothing we use in the world will double. If you look at the statistics, the amount of clothing our grandparents used is five times less than what we use now. Economic well-being is inevitable across the country in the next 10-15 years. When that happens, the first thing people buy is clothing.
In India, in the next 10 years, the amount of clothing purchased could easily increase three to five times. But where does this clothing go after usage? It gets into the entire food chain. This is the time we must move towards natural fibers—whether it's cotton, nettle, flax, or linen. Otherwise, we're poisoning our lives and our children's lives.
Studies have shown that the ecological and health impacts of synthetic fibers are disastrous. Those of you who are well-to-do must move to natural fibers first, because you can afford it.
