I donโt side with anyone, Iโm just frustrated with the way things are being run. How do these people even get into office? Time and time again, we see unqualified officials rise to power while countless capable Filipinos are overlooked. It makes you wonder what kind of system allows this to happen.
When Senator Imee Marcos called for a Senate hearing on the ICCโs arrest of FPRRD, I initially brushed it off. I thought it was pointless since PRRD was already detained in The Hague.
But as I watched the proceedings, something far worse came to light: the glaring incompetence of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and our law enforcement agencies.
This hearing didnโt just expose procedural failures. It revealed a broken system that puts the wrong people in charge while those with actual knowledge and skills are left behind.
Our government is falling apart at the seams, and this weakness could very well be the undoing of the Marcos administration.
Yes, Bongbong Marcos holds the greatest responsibility foreign policy is under his authority, and the ICC arrest wouldnโt have happened without his go-signal. But what the hearing really showed is that:
Our institutions are filled with officials who donโt even understand the basic legal processes theyโre supposed to enforce.
And weโre the ones paying for it. Millions in taxpayer money go to fund the DILG, CIDG, DOJ, PNP, AFP, and other agencies yet the people in charge seem clueless about the very laws they should be upholding.
Nakakahiya. There are countless Filipinos with the knowledge and integrity to serve, but theyโre overlooked while unqualified individuals climb the ranks. These officials collect fat paychecks every month, but canโt even do their jobs properly.
The hearing made two things crystal clear:
1. No Red Notice was issued only a Diffusion Notice.
2. Even Interpol was surprised by how quickly the Philippine government acted, without any judicial review of whether the ICC accusations held any ground under our laws.
The PNPโs credibility is now in tatters. Reports confirmed that 7,000 personnel were mobilized to arrest FPRRD, and Senate documents revealed that a memo about his arrest was circulated even before the ICC warrant came out at 3:00 AM on March 11, 2025. They knew ahead of time. Yet the PNP continues to deny this, despite overwhelming evidence. Itโs become clear that the institution is being run by liars.
As for DOJ Secretary Crispin Remulla his interpretation of the law isnโt just questionable; itโs dangerous. The way he spoke made it seem like the DOJ considers itself above the law. He ignored established jurisprudence and precedent, as if laws no longer matter and only politics does.
Ironically, this hearing may have done Duterte a favor. His legal team now has firsthand insight into the governmentโs incompetence and contradictions cracks in the case that theyโll undoubtedly use to their advantage.
In the end, this whole mess revealed one undeniable truth: The ICC arrest didnโt just expose the failures of the Marcos administration it also strengthened PRRDโs defense.
And the person who made that possible?
Senator Imee Marcos.
