In its continuing efforts to combat cybercrime nationwide, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) opened July 2026 with significant operational accomplishments, successfully arresting eight ( 8 ) individuals in a series of law enforcement operations conducted from 6:00 AM of July 1 to 6:00 AM of July 2, 2026. The operations were carried out by the Cyber Financial Crime Unit (CFCU), Regional Anti-Cybercrime Units (RACUs)โCordillera Administrative Region (CAR), 4A, and 8, and the Quezon City District Anti-Cybercrime Team (QCDACT).
Of the eight ( 8 ) arrested individuals, five ( 5 ) were apprehended by virtue of warrants of arrest issued by the courts. Among them, three ( 3 ) were wanted for violation of Section 4(c) ( 4 ) (Libel) of Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), with two ( 2 ) arrested by RACU 8 and one (1) by QCDACT. Another one (1) individual wanted for violation of Section 4(b) of Republic Act No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) was arrested by RACU 4A, while one (1) fugitive wanted for Estafa under Article 315(2)(a) of the Revised Penal Code was apprehended by RACU CAR.
Meanwhile, three ( 3 ) additional suspects were arrested through separate entrapment operations. RACU 4A arrested one ( 1 ) suspect for Article 294 (Robbery with Intimidation of Person) and Article 282 (Grave Threats) of the Revised Penal Code, while the Cyber Financial Crime Unit (CFCU) arrested two ( 2 ) suspects involved in separate online scam cases under Article 315 (Swindling/Estafa) of the Revised Penal Code.
In addition to these arrests, the PNP ACG filed six ( 6 ) cybercrime cases for regular filing, implemented eight ( 8 ) Warrants to Disclose Computer Data (WDCDs), conducted 59 cyber patrolling activities, examined one ( 1 ) piece of digital evidence, and rescued one ( 1 ) victim from online child abuse and exploitation.
Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the PNP, emphasized the PNP's unwavering commitment to enforcing cybercrime laws, stating that all offenders will be held accountable and brought to justice.
Police Major General Wilson C. Asueta, Director of the PNP ACG, said the accomplishments on the first day of July reflect the unit's constant dedication to protecting the public from cyber-enabled crimes. "We begin this month with a clear message: the PNP ACG remains relentless in pursuing cybercriminals, safeguarding the digital space, and ensuring that those who exploit information, communication, and technology for criminal activities are held accountable," PMGen Asueta said.
