The ๐๐ฏ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ค, during its session today, January 21, 2026, formally initiated the establishment of the Shariโah High Court under Article X of Republic Act No. 11054, or the ๐๐ณ๐จ๐ข๐ฏ๐ช๐ค ๐๐ข๐ธ ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ด๐ข๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฐ ๐๐ถ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ด ๐๐ฆ๐จ๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ญ๐ช๐ฎ ๐๐ช๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฐ (๐๐๐๐๐).
The SC, in a Resolution penned by Associate Justice Japar B. Dimaampao, directed the Office of the Court Administrator and the Fiscal and Budget Management Office to prepare and submit the budget and staffing pattern necessary for the operationalization of the Shariโah High Court for the next fiscal year.
This comes after the formal request of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority for the immediate organization of the Shariโah High Court, citing the imperative need to faithfully implement the provisions of R.A. 11054, which are relevant to the Shariโah justice system in the BARMM.
The SC explained that under RA 12233, or the ๐๐ถ๐ฅ๐ช๐ค๐ช๐ข๐ณ๐บ ๐๐ช๐ด๐ค๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ถ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐บ ๐๐ค๐ต, it has the discretion to propose the budget and staffing pattern for the operations of the Philippine Judiciary, which includes the Shariโah Circuit Courts, the Shariโah District Courts, and the Shariโah High Court.
The SC also affirmed its commitment to give life to the lawโs vision of dispensing justice consistent with the unique cultural and historical heritage of the Bangsamoro.
