Freedom of expression is essential to democracy but it should never become a license to diminish another person’s dignity.

Today, I joined Bombo Radyo Iloilo to discuss Rep. Perci Cendaña’s claim of discrimination arising from a posted caricature. Public officials must remain open to criticism, even when it is sharp. But when criticism targets a person’s medical condition or disability instead of their public acts, we must ask: Are we still engaging in legitimate discourse, or have we crossed the line into cruelty and discrimination?

Thank you, Bombo Radyo Iloilo and Bombo Joedel, for the meaningful conversation and for creating space where law, public accountability, and human dignity can meet.

I have been silent and away for the past five days, quietly working on what has become the longest pleading I have prepared so far—a 200-page Petition for Guardianship.

Tonight, alone, and after writing the final paragraphs, I looked up at the sign hanging inside my office: “People-Centered Law. Principled Advocacy.”

For a moment, I thought about the young child I once was here, someone who could never have imagined that one day, I would have a small law office in my hometown and be entrusted with stories involving families, aging parents, painful disagreements.

Some parts of this petition made me emotional. Behind every paragraph is a family trying to understand what love and responsibility should look like when life becomes complicated.

The law cannot mend every broken relationship. But perhaps it can protect the vulnerable and help a family find a more compassionate way forward. Ready for filing next week in Iloilo.

Now, I can relax and eat and sleep. ⚖️ 💙

Ninoy Aquino Day reminds us that love of country is not measured only by one great sacrifice, but also by the quiet choices we make every day.

In my work in law and advocacy, I have learned that building a better society happens one case, one client, one community, and one courageous stand at a time. We may not always see immediate results, and the work can sometimes feel difficult or lonely. Yet hope asks us to continue to defend what is right, serve those who need a voice, and do our part with integrity.

Perhaps this is how we honor sacrifice: by doing the best we can, wherever we are, to help build a society we can truly be proud of, one that is more just, compassionate, and worthy of the next generation.

Hope is not simply believing that tomorrow will be better. It is choosing, today, to help make it so. 🇵🇭

We are back in Roxas City for an estate proceeding case. Yung settlement of estate cases ang pinakamagulo sa lahat ng kaso, emotional, lalo na involve ang pamilya, susunod na rito ang kaso sa lupa. ⚖️💼
