🎓✨ A Milestone of Commitment and Service! ✨⚖️

Warmest congratulations to the Andres Bonifacio College – School of Law, JD-III students on taking their Oath as Level II Certified Law Student Practitioners pursuant to Rule 138-A of the Rules of Court!

This significant achievement, held before the Honorable Executive Judge Jose Rene G. Dondoyano, marks not only a fulfillment of academic preparation but a profound commitment to ethical lawyering, public service, and access to justice. As Level II practitioners, you now step forward with greater responsibility — ready to assist in court proceedings under supervision and to serve the community with competence and integrity.

Joining them in this meaningful occasion are the School’s Supervising Lawyers, Atty. Bryne Angelo Brillantes and Atty. Marc Ivan Palpagan, who continue to guide and support the students in their journey under the Clinical Legal Education Program.

May this oath serve as a constant reminder that the practice of law is not merely a profession, but a calling grounded in honor, discipline, and service.

Congratulations, future Attorneys! ⚖️🔥

EcoAlert Dipolog Lecture Series Wraps Up at Barangay Olingan 🌿

Guided by Dean Maria Cheryl Angela P. Barbaso, the session turned legal knowledge into a shared experience, encouraging participants to take informed steps toward positive change. Residents of Barangay Olingan actively engaged in the discussions, reflecting their commitment to community learning and action. Topics covered included:

Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003) – Ms. Christine Gerzon

Local Environmental Ordinances and Community Compliance – Ms. Mariz Lugo

The ReBin-It! Program – Ms. Lealene Sanoy

Wildlife Resources Conservation & Protection Act and Chainsaw Act of 2002 – Mr. Hector Lusaya, PENRO Development Management Officer III

Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Law – Mr. Jude Orosco

The success of the event was made possible through the dedication of Barangay officials, led by Barangay Captain Francisca Maquiling, whose support ensured full community engagement.

By bringing legal insights directly to the community, ABC-SOL transforms knowledge into action, empowering both students and residents to actively protect the environment and uphold the rights of women and children. While this concludes this year’s lecture series, it paves the way for future initiatives, inspiring ongoing learning, advocacy, and meaningful engagement beyond the classroom.

Together, let us continue working toward a clean, orderly, and peaceful community.

CLEP Field Exposure at the NLRC

The Law Student Practitioners of the Andres Bonifacio College School of Law recently visited the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) in Dipolog City as part of their ongoing exposure to real-world legal environments under the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP). Through this experience, the students were able to observe mediation conferences and formal hearings, allowing them to gain a clearer understanding of labor procedures and the practical aspects of dispute resolution.

We appreciate the NLRC for accommodating our students and supporting their experiential learning.

Sharing Knowledge in Service of Safer Communities

The Andres Bonifacio College School of Law (ABC SOL) extends its sincere gratitude to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Dipolog City, through City Local Government Operations Officer Sherrie Charlota N. Machutes, for the invitation to participate as resource speakers for the crucial 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), observed annually from November 25 to December 12.

We were honored to contribute to this vital effort alongside VAW Desk Officers, Barangay Secretaries, and Peace and Order Committee Chairpersons from Dipolog’s 21 barangays.

The vital legal presentations were delivered by Law Student Practitioners: Mr. Joel S. Rubi, CPA, discussed Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (Anti-VAWC Law). Concurrently, PCpl Mark Neil A Labidon discussed Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

We also thank our Supervising Lawyers, Dean Ma. Cheryl Angela Pacatang-Barbaso and Atty. Bryne Angelo Brillantes, for their invaluable guidance and presence, as well as the other law student practitioners for their dedicated assistance during the event.

ABCollege Legal Aid Center remains committed to supporting community initiatives that help create safer spaces for women and children.

Understanding the Probation Law (PD 968, as amended by RA 10707)
Instead of sending every eligible offender straight to prison, our legal system provides an alternative focused on reform, reintegration, and responsible freedom: probation. It allows qualified individuals to serve their sentence within the community under supervision—balancing justice with rehabilitation.

📚 Santos v. Court of Appeals, G.R. No. 149416 (August 17, 2004)
The Supreme Court stressed that probation is not a right, but a privilege granted by the court. Its goal is to rehabilitate the offender while protecting society’s welfare. Probation does not erase criminal liability—it simply offers a structured path toward reformation.

Probation stands as a vital tool of restorative justice—bringing accountability, supervision, and a genuine chance to rebuild one’s life. 🌱⚖️

✨ Legal Awareness in Action ✨

Last November 13, 2025, the Andres Bonifacio School of Law – JD3 Students, with the guidance of Atty. Bryne Angelo Brillantes, CLEP Professor, successfully conducted a Legal Literacy Symposium at Miputak National High School (MNHS) as part of their Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) requirements.

The symposium focused on timely and highly relevant topics for the young minds of MNHS:

• Safe Spaces Act and the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act — promoting respect, protection, and safety among students; and
• Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act — a crucial subject that empowers the youth to recognize, prevent, and report digital violations in today’s technology-driven environment.

These discussions were ably delivered by Simon Ferod Guimbarda and Mark Labidon, respectively.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Miputak National High School for warmly welcoming us and allowing ABC–School of Law to hold this meaningful symposium on their campus. Your support strengthens our mission to bring legal education and awareness to the community.

Through initiatives like this, our JD3 students continue to uphold the spirit of legal aid—advocating for safer spaces, informed choices, and empowered youth. ⚖️✨
