LISTEN: Ilonggo busker Clyde Ortencio released his debut single “City of Love.”
The romantic and groovy single is about asking someone on a date in Iloilo City, often referred to as the “City of Love.”
Clyde, who studies management at the University of the Philippines Visayas, said that when he was writing the song, he was thinking of “asking a girl to spend a day with me in my beloved city, Iloilo.”
“Iloilo is not dubbed as the ‘city of love’ for no reason. There are many dating concepts that you can try in the city regardless of the budget. I find the cute sunset and the evening ambiance in Megaworld are so adorable so I’d tried to incorporate it’s mood to poster,” the Ilonggo singer-songwriter told Daily Guardian
“Dating should not be necessarily pricy. You can try inexpensive food like fishballs beside the street; it may be just a long walk at night, inside the malls or beside the river; just a coffee with interesting topics that are not limited to our favorite songs and artists, movies, people and even the small victories that will even make us feel better when shared,” he added.
The 21-year-old from President Roxas, Capiz started performing songs online. He gained most of his following on TikTok, amassing over 1 million likes. | Sean Rafio
