I bought a stethoscope and of course, the color is...

PINK!

But, I am not a Kakampink. I am a DDS. ☺️

No worries, our office values freedom of expression. You are welcome regardless of political color.

Anyway, a quick story time.

I bought the sphygmomanometer first because I wanted to render free BP-taking. But I suddenly chickened out. 😂 My last nursing experience was in 2011.

So, I bought a digital one for easier BP-taking, because I also remembered I needed a stethoscope but I did not have. See, I really forgot already. I initially thought a sphygmo was enough.

But I figured a digital sphygmomanometer is not really that accurate. Thus, I decided to go back to manual.

Now I have a sphygmo and a pink stethoscope.

And I am sooo ready. 😆

Had to work on a Saturday due to hectic schedule and brought my mother with me. She was lying on the sofa bed when suddenly she said...

"Kanang imo mga libro Day pinart-time-an na nako. Dapat magbutang kag eroplano sa Qatar diri."

She was working as a maintenance crew at Qatar Airways when she supported me in law school that was why the request.

Two nights before, while we were hanging out inside my room with Grae, I suddenly told her...

"Ma, ma, ma."
"Unsa man?" She asked.
"Salamat kay gipaeskoyla gyud mi nimo."

She was shocked.

"Ha? Obligasyon mana nako."

I was shocked too.

All this time I thought my mother did those to get something from us later on.

At this point, I think I had misunderstood my mother big time.

When she went home for good last June 12, 2018 after 17 years as OFW, I really thought our family would finally be the complete family I had been wishing it to be. Sadly though, it was hard to unite 5 people who became strangers because of time and distance.

But just recently, all the baggages in my heart suddenly felt light and I started to become really grateful of everything I have, big or small, even if some of them aren't exactly what I wished them to be. Because of that, I began to see my mother in a different light, among others. 😊

I am so sorry for everything Ma, and thank you so much. 😪

Edit:

Mama's rection upon waking up and seeing her picture on FB: "AHH! GIPICTURE-AN PUD KO OI."

Me: Ayaw basaha Maaaaa.

MY PASSION SAVED ME FROM POVERTY

My heart still aches every time I read stories of survival. Because I came from that quest.

My father let my youngest sister took up Political Science in the hope of making her a lawyer. When my sister shifted to Psychology, she made a declaration that she will never go to law school. And so, I took the opportunity and said, "Pa, ako na lang. Ako na lang Pa bi."

That was my first dibs.

When I indeed attempted to enroll in law school, I had to pay the full tuition fee because of my delayed honorable dismissal from UC-Banilad. My money was not enough. "Next semester na lang ko Pa." I told my father.

"No." He answered. The next thing I heard, he borrowed from my neighbors. While waiting, I told God, "God, if makahuwam si Papa, will gyud siguro nimo nga mag-law school ko." When he came back with P5k in his hand, I swore I could jump in ecstacy.

That was my second dibs.

But dibs, surely, were not enough. I was tested financially and academically. There was no doubt about my determination. It was money matters and grade matters that consumed the hell out of me.

There were hungry and depressed times. There were times when I all I could do was cry. There were times when I had to borrow from friends. There were times when I felt so lonely studying alone.

It was passion that caused me to fight them all. There was nothing else I would do but to learn the law.

Now, I am savoring the fruit of my perseverance.

No, do not call me lucky. It was not luck that propelled me. It was blood, sweat and tears. The success was hard-earned. It was not achieved overnight.

I am so sentimental of those hardships that I want to cry every time I see my name in court envelopes. Congrats, Jeryl Grace. You did really make it. Let that sink in now. 😊

"EVERYONE STARTS FROM SCRATCH. THERE'S NO HARM IN TRYING."

If you ever ask me what's the hardest case I have ever defended -- I would answer...

"That lascivious conduct in relation to child abuse law I handled."

Every direct and cross examination was intense. I, of course, did want my client to be imprisoned - he was a family man and a breadwinner more than anything else.

I tried every other legal ways to settle that was possible but to no avail.

So, I went all out when we had to present our last witness for the defense. I picked a witness that was "make or break". The trial for that witness was grueling and a bit dramatic and some of our evidence was objected to.

After I rested my case, my next approach was to prepare for appeal.

But there was never a need.

Because on the 29th of April last year, my client was ACQUITTED.

Whoa. I was in cloud 9.

But when I went back to my office after that promulgation of favorable judgment...

A client was waiting WITH THE SAME CASE.

But wait, there's more.

IN THREE COUNTS.

So, whatever efforts I had in the previous case I had just won, I had to TRIPLE them.

Wew!

But guess what?

Today, the reason why I had this very carefree pose... is because that THREE CASES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED... ☺️

If you ask me how I won that first case, I would say...

Maybe because of my line...

"Everyone starts from scratch. There is no harm in trying."

As to the second case, believe it or not, it was because of DIVINE INTERVENTION...

So yeah, this is my life...

I am a litigation lawyer.
I am serious about my job.
I work hard and prepare hard.

And above all...

I NEVER FORGET GOD.

😊😊😊

Done giving warnings? You may post this on your wall:

FINAL NOTICE ON PERSONAL BOUNDARIES & LEGAL ACTION

To be unmistakably clear:

My silence over the past few days was not a concession, nor was it an invitation to continue off-line harassment, covert discussions, or malicious interference regarding my family’s private legal affairs. It was a courtesy.

Official cease-and-desist warnings have already been formally transmitted to specific individuals through my law office. The period for informal resolution, neighborhood commentary, and voluntary respect for boundaries is now closed.

Any further acts of Unjust Vexation, Oral Defamation, or targeted harassment—whether direct, indirect, or through third parties—will no longer receive warnings. They will immediately result in formal legal proceedings before the Barangay Lupon and the appropriate courts, with all documented evidence submitted into the record.

Our boundaries are set. Consider yourselves duly notified.
