Today, we appeared before the Regional Trial Court, Branch 1 of Caloocan City, the designated Family Court in the City. ⚖️

But what exactly falls within the jurisdiction of a Family Court?

Under Republic Act No. 8369, or the Family Courts Act of 1997, designated Family Courts exercise jurisdiction over specific cases involving children and family relations. These include, among others, petitions involving custody of children, support, adoption, declaration of nullity of marriage, annulment of marriage, legal separation, and cases involving violence against women and their children, as provided by law.

Family law cases are unique. Beyond knowing the substantive law, lawyers must carefully consider jurisdiction, venue, procedure, and the particular circumstances of the family involved, especially when the rights and best interests of a child are at stake.

Last August 5, 2026, we appeared before a Special Commercial Court for the presentation of our second witness in a commercial case we are handling in collaboration with GABA Law and Quebal Law Office (insert Atty. Ace Dominic Quebal)

People often associate court cases with criminal cases. But in the Philippines, certain branches of the Regional Trial Courts are designated by the Supreme Court as Special Commercial Courts to hear specific commercial cases and business-related disputes within their jurisdiction.

We always tell our clients that litigation should be a last option.

⚖️ After 1 year, 6 months, and 12 days (558 days), this case is officially closed.

We at Gardon See & Associates Law Office are grateful to have handled this HSAC case in collaboration with Quebal Law Office.

A judgment had already been rendered and a Writ of Ex*****on issued. While we were considering the legal remedies still available to our clients, including a possible Petition for Certiorari under Rule 65, good-faith negotiations between the parties opened another path.

🤝 Through the efforts of the parties and their respective counsel, a Compromise Agreement was reached and presented to the Honorable Adjudicator, bringing the dispute to an amicable conclusion.

As lawyers, we are called to protect our clients’ rights and interests. But this case reminded us that sometimes, the best legal outcome is not found in pursuing litigation to its furthest end, but in finding common ground that allows both sides to move forward.

Grateful to our clients for their trust, to our collaborating counsel, and to everyone who helped bring this matter to a peaceful conclusion. 🙏

Sometimes, a good resolution is already a victory for everyone.

🏛️ Three Tribunals in One Week.

This week, Gardon See & Associates Law Office appeared before three different tribunals, each involving a distinct area of law and a different legal issue.

We represented management in a labor dispute involving allegations of illegal dismissal, where the employer maintains that procedural due process was observed.

In collaboration with Quebal Law Office, we represented homebuyers questioning the imposition of interest and penalties despite the absence of a written agreement authorizing such charges. The case likewise involves issues relating to the applicability of the Maceda Law.
