CEBUPAC: FLIGHTS BOOKED VIA UNAUTHORIZED CHANNELS WON'T PUSH THROUGH
Cebu Pacific has warned passengers that flights booked using fraudulent credit cards or unauthorized channels will not be honored, even if travelers are already at the airport. The advisory comes after three individuals were apprehended at Boracay Airport for allegedly booking flights with stolen credit cards and reselling converted travel funds on social media.
According to the airline, its investigation revealed that some bookings were made using stolen or unauthorized credit cards, which were later turned into travel funds and resold through unofficial platforms. These flights were reportedly offered across several Facebook groups.
Cebu Pacific spokesperson Carmina Romero urged passengers to book only through legitimate channels, saying, "CEB does not have a Facebook group. Don't book your flights there. Book directly through CEB website, app, or credible travel agencies."
Romero stressed that passengers will be denied boarding if their tickets were purchased using illegal travel funds, even if they have already arrived at the airport. "We could see that in the system," she said.
She added that travelers who want to continue their trips must rebook through Cebu Pacificβs official website or mobile app. "They would only waste their money and time if they would purchase their tickets again using 'illegal travel funds' as these would be declined," Romero added.
The airline is now coordinating with authorities to investigate groups involved in the illegal sale of flights and reminded passengers that using unauthorized channels may prevent them from rebooking, checking in online, or adding baggage and meals to their bookings.
