The prestigious ALB Philippine Law Awards hosted by the Thomson Reuters Group and Asia Legal Business aims to recognize and celebrate excellence in the Philippine legal community, and will be held at the Makati Shangri-La on November 14, 2024.

PQAM lawyers Atty. Greg Pallugna, Atty George Quimpo and Atty Arlou Linaac, in photo with City Councilor Atty. Edgar Cabanlas, secure an order granting the issuance of a Writ of Preliminary Injunction for COWD consumer-clients Dr. Ronnie Waniwan and former Councilor Eric Salcedo, and the residents of Cagayan de Oro City.

After securing the Temporary Restraining Order before RTC Branch 17 earlier in May, the granting of the Writ of Preliminary Injunction before RTC Branch 41, further provides protection against arbitrary deprivation of sufficient supply of clean and potable water to the general public. PQAM Managing Senior Partner Atty. Greg Pallugna expresses gratitude as the humanitarian Writ ordered to be issued by the Court benefits not only the firm’s clients but also the residents of Cagayan de Oro in general.

PQAM Managing Partner Atty. Gregorio Miguel Pallugna and Junior Partner Atty. Arlou Adrian Linaac receive the TRO issued by the Regional Trial Court as counsels for Petitioners, private citizens Dr. Ronnie M. Waniwan and former Councilor Enrico D. Salcedo.

The 72-hour TRO prohibits Rio Verde and COBI from disconnecting the water supply from Rio Verde to COWD. In the meantime, a hearing will be set by the court within the next two days to decide on whether the TRO will be extended.

The Petition, based on the people’s right to water, filed by the private citizens of Cagayan de Oro City, was filed simultaneously with a similar Petition filed by the COWD.

Atty. Melanie Cabanlas and Councilor Atty. Edgar Salcedo Cabanlas were also present as representatives of the City Government to show their support, as the local government continues its efforts to stop the summary disconnection of COWD’s water supply.

Alinsunod ito sa Executive Order no. 39 na inaprubahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. bilang hakbang upang alalayan ang mga mamimili sa pagtaas ng presyo ng bigas sa bansa.
