MARCOS PROPOSES TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF RPVARA
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has proposed the temporary suspension of the implementation of the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA) to help prevent additional property-related costs for businesses and support investments.
The proposal was made during the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting at MalacaΓ±ang Palace on August 6, 2026, attended by leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
According to Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the proposed suspension aims to:
πΉ Prevent additional property-related costs for businesses
πΉ Support investments and business activity
πΉ Allow a gradual and reasonable transition to the new property valuation system
RPVARA, or Republic Act No. 12001, introduces reforms aimed at modernizing and standardizing the valuation and assessment of real property in the Philippines.
The proposed temporary suspension would give businesses, property owners, investors, and local governments more time to adjust to the new valuation framework while minimizing potential financial disruptions.
