As part of the University of Batangas 80th Founding Anniversary celebration, the IBP Batangas Chapter attended the Founders Memorial Lecture, “From Knowledge to Enterprise: A Summit on National Issues and Business Leadership,” held on April 24, 2026 at the University of Batangas, Juan Y. Javier Culture and Arts Building. 🏫

The program featured insightful discussions from distinguished speakers. Our very own Hon. Judge Sharmagne Joy A. Binay, introduced by IBP Batangas Chapter President Atty. Rene M. Atienza, delivered a lecture on “Streamlining Justice: How Small Claims Courts Influence Commercial Disputes and Contract Enforcement.” This was followed by retired Supreme Court Hon. Justice Antonio T. Carpio, who spoke on “The Significance of the 1875 Carta General del Archipelago Filipino,” offering important historical and legal perspectives on national territory and identity.

The session was further enriched by an open forum where participants raised relevant questions that were clearly addressed by the speakers, allowing for a deeper exchange of ideas and a better understanding of the topics discussed.

The IBP Batangas Chapter extends its appreciation to the University of Batangas and Metro Batangas Business Club (MBBC) for the invitation and for a well-conducted and meaningful lecture. ✨

The 4th IBP President’s Cup Golf Tournament has officially concluded, and it was truly a success. 🥳

Held last April 17 at Summit Point Golf & Country Club in Lipa City, the day started early with registration and breakfast, followed by the ceremonial tee and shotgun start. Players spent the day on the course in a smooth and well-organized round of play. The atmosphere stayed lively, with participants enjoying both the competition and the chance to reconnect with fellow members and guests.

We are sincerely grateful to our Sponsors, our Players, the Summit Point staff-members, and everyone who worked behind the scenes. Because of your support and effort, the tournament ran smoothly and became an event each one of us will always remember. ✨

Congratulations to all the winners of this year’s tournament. The event was made even better by the strong sportsmanship shown by all participants throughout the day. We also hope everyone enjoyed the giveaways and raffle. 🏆

Most importantly, this year’s President’s Cup allowed us to raise a significant amount in support of the Free Legal Aid Program of the IBP Batangas Chapter.

In its continuing commitment to proactive leadership and meaningful service, the Board of Directors of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Batangas Chapter convened for its monthly Board Meeting on April 8, 2026.

The Board discussed and prepared for key upcoming initiatives, including the 4th President’s Cup, the SLR Meeting, the ASEAN Bar Summit, and the Chapter’s tree planting activity, as well as plans for the renovation of the Chapter building. 🌿✨

The meeting concluded on a light and celebratory note with a birthday celebration for our Chapter Director, Atty. Niccolai Brigette M. Reyes. 🥳

Patuloy na nagbibigay ng libreng serbisyong legal sa publiko ang IBP–Batangas Chapter sa pamamagitan ng programang Legal Aid Friday. Noong Abril 10, 2026, muling nagbukas ang tanggapan nito para sa mga kliyenteng humihingi ng gabay sa iba’t ibang usaping legal.

Ang mga volunteer lawyers na sina Atty. Erwin L. Aguilera at Atty. Gilbert L. Macatangay ay naglaan ng kanilang oras at kadalubhasaan upang tumulong sa mga kliyente, na lalo pang nagtataguyod ng mas malawak na akses sa hustisya sa komunidad.

Ang mga nais humingi ng payong legal at konsultasyon ay maaaring bumisita sa tanggapan ng IBP Batangas Chapter tuwing Biyernes, mula 1:00 PM hanggang 5:00 PM.

The Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) Office has issued ULAS Advisory No. 4, s. 2026 on the ULAS Board’s resolution to dispense with the requirement for Registered Organizations (ROs) to submit a Manifestation of Intent to Aggregate for the first Compliance Period.

The creation of an RO account and the tagging of Covered Lawyers (CLs) in the ULAS Portal, plus the CLs’ confirmation to be included in the RO already sufficiently indicates intent to aggregate pro bono legal aid service hours for the first Compliance Period.

We’re down to the final 2 days before the 4th IBP President’s Cup Golf Tournament this April 17 at Summit Point Golf & Country Club, Lipa City. If you’re playing, this is a good time to double check your registration, prepare your gear, and plan your call time since we’ll be starting early.

Gates open at 6:00 AM for registration and breakfast, so it’s best to arrive early to avoid the rush and settle in properly. The ceremonial tee starts at 7:30 AM, followed by the shotgun tee off at exactly 8:00 AM, so everyone needs to be ready on time.

Expect a full day on the course with a good mix of competition and catch-ups with fellow players. At the same time, this tournament supports the Free Legal Aid Program of the IBP Batangas Chapter, so your participation goes beyond the game.

Pinaaalalahanan ni Atty. Reginald Laco ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Batangas Chapter ang publiko na basahin at unawaing mabuti ang insurance policy bago pumirma.

Ayon sa kanya, mahalagang ikumpara ang mga alok, suriin ang mga kondisyon, at panatilihin ang kopya ng policy at mga resibo bilang mahalagang rekord.

Kung may hindi makatwirang delay sa claims, huwag mag-atubiling kumonsulta sa abogado at gamitin ang nararapat na legal na remedyo.

Pinaalalahanan ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines Batangas Chapter ang publiko na basahin munang mabuti at unawain ang mga probisyon ng insurance policy bago pirmahan ang anumang aplikasyon para sa insurance.

Binigyang-diin ni Atty. Reginald Laco na mahalagang suriin muna ang mga alok ng isang insurance company at maghambing ng iba’t ibang opsyon kung may mga kondisyong hindi katanggap-tanggap sa aplikante. Ipinunto rin niya na matapos maaprubahan ang aplikasyon, nararapat lamang na itago ang kopya ng policy at mga patunay ng pagbabayad bilang mahalagang record.

Dagdag pa rito, kung makaranas ng hindi makatwirang pagkaantala sa pagbabayad ng claim, pinapayuhan ang publiko na kumonsulta sa abogado at magsampa ng kaukulang hakbang tulad ng pagpapadala ng demand letter at iba pang legal na remedyo.

Na-deny ang insurance claim? 🤔

Ipinaliwanag ni Atty. Amber Lapuz ng IBP Batangas na mahalagang maging maagap sa pag-file, siguraduhing updated ang policy, at kumpleto at tama ang mga dokumento upang maiwasan ang rejection ng claim.

Ipinaliwanag ni Atty. Amber Lapuz ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Batangas Chapter na may ilang pangunahing dahilan kung bakit maaaring i-reject ng insurance company ang isang claim.

Kabilang dito ang late filing o hindi agarang pag-uulat ng insidente sa insurer matapos itong mangyari. Binanggit din niya na maaari itong ma-deny kung hindi updated o inactive ang policy dahil sa hindi pagbabayad ng premium o hindi napapanahong renewal.

Dagdag pa niya, maaari ring maging dahilan ang kakulangan o maling impormasyon sa mga dokumento, gayundin kung ang insidente ay hindi saklaw ng policy tulad ng reckless driving, ilegal na gawain at pagmamaneho nang walang lisensya.

A meaningful and successful afternoon of learnings. ✨

The Briefing/Seminar on Tax Updates and Relevant BIR Rules and Regulations, organized by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Batangas Chapter, in partnership with the Lipa Lawyers League, and in coordination with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), was successfully held on March 27, 2026 at Aquamarine Hotel and Pavilion, Banay-banay, Lipa City.

The event featured insightful lectures and a meaningful open forum on important tax updates, current BIR issuances, and regulatory developments relevant to the legal profession.
