“Nothing liberates our greatness like the desire to help, the desire to serve.” – Marianne Williamson

Last June 2021, we conducted a month-long campaign to combat the stigma against health care products and procedures related to topics such as HIV/Aids. As Project HYCON officially came to an end, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of our Health Advocates who gave their time and effort to make this project a success.

Thank you for accepting the challenge! You were able to help a lot of people and create significant impact upon their lives. Change do happen when you take action.

[LIQUIDATION REPORT]

The Project HYCON or Hygiene and Contraceptives, is a month-long, youth-led movement that advocates to destigmatize health-related topics, procedures, and products in order to promote a healthier Bacolod City.

We would like to thank the following organizations for partnering and supporting us throughout the initiative: Akbay PH, Akbayan Youth - Bacolod, Bagani Community Center, Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Red Cross Youth, and SAMALAYA-SAGES.

Our heartfelt gratitude as well to the donors, volunteers, committee heads, and consultants for their time and effort as they extend theirselves for the fulfillment of this project. Padayon, pamatan-on!

Through everyone's help, we were able to successfully wrap-up with three succeeding donation drives and health education to our identified Barangays' in Bacolod City and extend help to the families of fire victims in Purok Riverside, Brgy. Bata.

We’re inviting you to a talk! 💙

Join us later in the 7th episode of Sugilanon entitled "Ending HIV Epidemic", 7:00 PM via Facebook Live.

This episode is brought to you by Istoryahi, a collaboration of NYLI's Sugilanon and YEY's KapEdukar and in partnership with Bagani by LoveYourself and Project HyCon.

Nearly a million people still die from HIV every year. HIV remains to be one of the biggest challenges medical professionals face. So, it is important that we educate and familiarize ourselves with education, conversations and the stigmas associated to HIV.

Prevention and treatment of HIV amplifies when we support and raise our voices as a community. Join us tomorrow in our 7th episode for Sugilanon entitled "Ending HIV Epidemic", 7:00 PM via Facebook Live.

Our speaker for tomorrow is Mr. Demosthenes John Brodit. He is a registered nurse and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Education Major in Biology at the University of Philippines-Visayas. He works as a Territory Manager at Unilab, Inc and is the Caravan Committee head of Bagani Community Center by Loveyourself.

PROJECT HYCON IS A WRAP!

Project HYCON or Project Hygiene and Contraceptives, is a month-long, youth-led initiative with the goal of destigmatizing health-related procedures and products in order to raise awareness and promote the wellbeing of the Bacolodnon youth.

Last June 25, 2021, Project HYCON successfully campaigned for HIV/AIDS awareness, screening and procedure, and reproductive products through the comprehensive session by the volunteers from Bagani Community Center held at Boy Scouts of the Philippines Bacolod City Council.

A total of 14 hygiene kits were given to the invited beneficiaries from Barangay 31 and 21, while 30 hygiene kits were distributed to street vendors and workers near the area.

Furthermore, Project HYCON donated a total of 54 hygiene kits along with 2 boxes of face masks, 2 pcs of 60 mL. alcohol, 24 boxes of face shields, 9 pcs of condoms/lubricant pack, and 1 gallon of alcohol kits to the joint initiative of the Humanist Alliance Philippine International- Bacolod and the Youth Empowering Youth- Initiative for the 19 families of Purok Riverside, Brgy. Bata, whose homes were damaged by the fire last June 19, 2021.

Lastly, we would like to sincerely extend our heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers, donors, and our families for supporting us in our endeavor.

May we continue to serve the people and promote a proactive Bacolod! Padayon.

I contribute to HYCONtribute!

As we near the end of our project, we would like to express our gratitude to all those who have supported us!

As Project HYCON aims to advocate against the stigma with health-related procedures and products, we can not achieve this without the voices and support of our fellow advocates.

Featuring some, among the many donors who have trusted and supported our cause through HYCONtribute.

Once again, our sincerest gratitude to all. We are still open for donations as we tackle about HIV/AIDS Awareness and Reproductive Health in our last week of braving the tides!

"OPEN YOUR EYES BEFORE AIDS CLOSES THEM” 👀✨

Ever wonder what discrimination and lack of education about HIV/AIDS can cause in our society? Well, take a look at this one:

According to the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV-AIDS (UNAIDS), the Philippines is experiencing a “new wave” in the number of HIV-AIDS cases and deaths. For the year 2019, AIDS-related deaths have increased by 450 percent despite the availability of life-saving treatment in 160 facilities across the country. Furthermore, Western Visayas has been considered one of the top 5 regions with the highest number of HIV cases, and 76% of this is from Bacolod City. Isn’t that alarming?

Kapatid, the reality is right in front of us. The choice is ours to make. All we need to do is OPEN OUR EYES AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SILENT EPIDEMIC. Be with Project HYCON! Together, let us EDUCATE and EMPOWER one another for an HIV/AIDS-free tomorrow! Dahil ika nga ng DOH, "Ligtas ang may alam.” ✊🏻💙✨
