No need to line up for airport terminal fees starting August 1
Starting Wednesday, August 1, domestic passengers will no longer have to fall in line at airports to pay terminal fees.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced the move in May when it signed a Memorandum of Agreement with domestic airlines including Air Philippines, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, Seair, Sky Pasada, and Zest Air for the integration of the P200 terminal fee into the airline ticket.
This covers all tickets, whether purchased online, at ticket offices, or from travel agents.
MIAA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado said the change was for the convenience of passengers.
However, it only applies to tickets purchased on or after August 1.
Passengers holding tickets issued before that will have to pay the P200 terminal fee separately.
If the ticket that includes the P200 fee is not used, the ticket holder may get a refund of the fee within a year from the date when the ticket was issued.
Affected passengers are advised to get the refund from airline ticket offices.
This move will benefit millions of passengers who travel via NAIA Terminals 1, 2, and 3. There were 8.43 million passengers who used these terminals in 2011 and 7.37 million in 2010. — AE/DVM, GMA News
